PDRA to Crown 2023 World Champions at Brian Olson Memorial World Finals

DINWIDDIE, VA – The 10th season of Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) eighth-mile drag racing action will come to a close this weekend as the series crowns champions at its eighth and final race of the year, the Pro Line Racing Brian Olson Memorial World Finals presented by ProCharger. Hosted by Virginia Motorsports Park since the PDRA’s inaugural season in 2014, the World Finals is a marquee race on both the PDRA and VMP schedules.

“There’s no place like our home track to wrap up the season and crown our 2023 world champions,” said Tyler Crossnoe, series director, PDRA. “This is always an exciting time, whether you’re fighting for a championship or not. Between the cool fall conditions and the track conditions our PDRA and VMP teams provide, all the conditions are there for world records and personal bests. The top drivers in several classes are separated by less than a round, so class records and hero runs in qualifying could make the difference in those championship battles. This is going to be a can’t-miss weekend for our local fans and those watching from around the world on FloRacing.”

Two-time Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous world champion Tommy Franklin is wrapping up one of the best seasons of his career, as he’s won four times in seven races in his Musi-powered “Jungle Rat” ’69 Camaro. Three of those wins came at the three most recent events, giving Franklin a nearly three-round lead over four-time and reigning world champion Jim Halsey. With two wins in four final-round appearances, Halsey and his Fulton-powered “Daddy Shark” ’68 Camaro can’t be counted out.

T. Franklin, Harris, Morton, Stewart, Al-Saber, Agostino and Mota No. 1 Qualifiers at PDRA DragWars

BENSON, NC – Two-time Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous world champion Tommy Franklin earned his first No. 1 qualifier award of the season Friday night at the PDRA ProFabrication DragWars at GALOT Motorsports Park. Driving his Musi-powered “Jungle Rat” ’69 Camaro, Franklin recorded a 3.644-second pass at 205.63 MPH to claim the top spot as he chases a third season title.

PDRA Championship Battles Tightening Up Going Into DragWars at GALOT

BENSON, NC – Less than a round of racing separates the top two drivers in numerous Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) classes as the series heads into the penultimate race of its 10th season, ProFabrication DragWars. Held at GALOT Motorsports Park on Oct. 5-7, DragWars will play a pivotal role in the championship battles in the PDRA’s six pro classes, four sportsman categories, and two Jr. Dragster classes.

“We saw some big shakeups at our last race in Darlington that really intensified the championship scenarios in a number of classes,” said Tyler Crossnoe, series director, PDRA. “Points at the top of the standings tightened up, making this weekend all the more exciting for fans and nerve-racking for the racers. Some of the championships could come down to mere qualifying points, so DragWars will be a true battle from start to finish.”

DragWars is the second of two annual PDRA races hosted by GALOT Motorsports Park, which joined the PDRA schedule in 2016. The track quickly established a reputation as one of the nicest eighth-mile facilities in the country, as well as a favorite of PDRA fans and racers.
