Lizzy Musi and Indocil Art Team Up for Iconic Helmet Designs
ROCK HILL, SC — It’s not hard for Lizzy Musi to stand out. As the lone female competitor at PDRA Pro Nitrous 
events, she is easily recognized. Add to that a successful career, including recently topping the ultra-competitive field at the PDRA North-South Shootout with a number one qualifier, and Lizzy owns a unique stance in drag racing. A new partnership with Indocil Art will combine Lizzy’s interests and style with artistic design, and she’s sure to turn heads once again.
Lizzy and Indocil Art mastermind Ryan Young have teamed up to create a series of helmets uniquely themed to her interests. Musi’s artistic side complement Young’s own to form a collaboration not normally seen between a racer and helmet painter, leading to a very unique design. The first helmet is inspired by ZZ Top’s “Eliminator” hit.
“I’m an MTV kid,” confessed Young, who says he owes his current business in part to rock and roll inspirations. “Being eight years old when MTV first aired, it shaped a huge portion of my impressionable young life, and no one could hold a candle to ZZ Top. ZZ Top politely informed this nerdy kid that you, too, could have the hot babydoll girlfriend if you had the keys to the right car. I built no less than three ’33 Ford model cars of the famed ‘Eliminator’ hot rod, trying each time to make it more like the car I drooled over during those rock and roll videos growing up. ZZ Top lit the fuse of a long love affair with hot rods, custom paint and rock and roll.”
MUSI ENGINES OUTPERFORM IN PROFESSIONAL AND SPORTSMAN CATEGORIES
MOORESVILLE, NC – Across classes and across series, Pat Musi racing engines are topping the competition both in 
performance and consistency. While Musi engines may be best known for their feats in Pro Nitrous (Lizzy Musi holds the current speed record and Tommy Franklin recorded the quickest-ever pass), the family business is taking customers to the winner’s circle across the board.
At the recent PDRA Spring Nationals it was a Musi engine, wielded by 2014 class champion Dan Ferguson, that showed up in the winner’s circle in Top Sportsman. In Top Dragster, Musi engines currently sit number one and number two in points with customers David Brown and Jimmy Sackuvich, respectively. It’s clear that Musi engines aren’t just fast, they’re consistent. Other than the run in which Ferguson coasted to the win because of his competitor’s red-light start, Ferguson’s car varied six thousandths of a second throughout race day. That kind of consistency when running at speeds over 180 MPH and covering the eighth-mile in just 3.98 seconds is an extraordinary feat for an engine.
Pat Musi’s Rise to Dominance in Pro Mod Competition
PITTSBORO, NC – If Pat Musi Racing Engines wasn’t a household name among racers before 2014, it certainly is 
now. Although Musi has been a successful businessman and racer for decades, racking up a slew of awards and championships, 2014 may have been the greatest standout year of his career.
Pat Musi Racing Engines won championships in nearly every major professional Pro Mod organization. Jason Harris had a dominating year in the new Professional Drag Racers Association, storming Pro Nitrous and securing his first Pro Mod Championship. Tommy Franklin finished second to Harris in PN points with the PDRA, but was not to be outdone with the Extreme Outlaw Pro Mods, winning four events in 2014 en route to being crowned EOPM Champ. Finally, Rickie Smith went back-to-back, coming out on top for the second year in a row as NHRA Pro Mod Champion.
Another Musi Behind the Wheel: Tricia Musi Steps into PDRA Top Sportsman in 2015
PITTSBORO, NC – For as long as Tricia Musi can remember she’s wanted to drive race cars. In her younger years she watched father, Pat Musi, 
build his engine business and field his own cars. In more recent years Tricia has supported her sister Lizzy as she sprung into the professional eighth mile spotlight. Now, though, it’s finally Tricia’s turn.
In 2015 the youngest Musi daughter will field the car previously driven by Lizzy, a 2010 Dodge Stratus, in PDRA Top Sportsman. Under the hood will be a 903 ci Musi powerplant. The operation is owned by Mike Bankston, who Tricia totes as being a major force behind making her dreams come true.
MUSI 903 RECEIVES ‘NORTH AMERICAN RACE ENGINE OF THE YEAR’ NOMINATION
MOORESVILLE, NC – Pat Musi Racing Engines’ 903 EFI powerplant has been nominated for Race Engine Technology magazine’s North 
American Race Engine of the Year. The nomination was revealed in Race Engine Technology issue 81, September/October 2014.
The nomination for this prestigious award caps off a year of unprecedented success in nitrous-assisted Pro Modified drag racing for veteran engine builder Pat Musi.
“This year has been unreal,” Musi said. “We won a lot of races, won a lot of championships, and set records across the board, but being recognized for a global honor like this is truly special.”
Musi’s 903 cubic inch masterpiece is the only drag racing engine nominated for the award, sharing the spotlight with engines from IndyCar and sports car racing. The engine propelled doorslammer legend Rickie Smith to the 2013 NHRA Pro Mod championship, and Smith’s success carried over into 2014 as he set the quarter-mile records for a nitrous-assisted car in both elapsed time and speed. With one race remaining, Smith is also in prime position to claim back-to-back championships.
LIZZY MUSI REWRITES THE RECORD BOOKS & SCORES CAREER-FIRST WIN
MOORESVILLE, NC – In just her fifth race in the category, Lizzy Musi earned her career-first Pro Nitrous victory in the inaugural 
Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) U.S. Drags at Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP) in Dinwiddie, VA. The historic win was also the first for a female driver in the 89-race history of the Pro Nitrous division.
The 23-year-old phenom has certainly been impressive in her Pro Nitrous rookie season, having eclipsed the 3.70-second and 200 MPH performance barriers and appearing in the final round at the previous PDRA race in Martin, MI, but her performance July 25-26 at VMP was especially memorable. In qualifying Musi laid down a Pro Nitrous-record 3.740-second elapsed time that rocketed her to the top of the quickest field in the history of the class, which featured a 3.889-second bump spot thanks to 32 of the best nitrous cars in the world attempting to qualify for the 16-car field. The eighth-mile run was also the quickest-ever on American soil by a doorslammer not utilizing a supercharged engine.
MUSI MUSCLE OVERPOWERS PDRA IN MARTIN, BUILDS ON REMARKABLE SEASON
MOORESVILLE, NC – As the 2014 racing season wears on racers using Pat Musi Racing Engines have continued to establish 
themselves as the dominant forces in their respective categories, led by Jason Harris and his four consecutive Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) Pro Nitrous wins.
Harris extended his undefeated season June 28 by capturing the inaugural PDRA Summer Drags title at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, MI. In the PDRA’s brief history, no one except Harris has left an event with a Pro Nitrous trophy.
“It’s unreal; we’ve had a fantastic season. Everything has worked so well ever since we unloaded for the first time at Rockingham (NC),” Harris said. The latest Pat Musi Racing Engines 903 EFI engine sits between the framerails of his ’68 Pontiac Firebird “Warbird” built by Robert Hayes Race Cars. The combination has been lethal for Harris’ Pro Nitrous opponents, enabling the car to click off eighth-mile runs in the 3.70-second range at 200 MPH seemingly at will.

MOORESVILLE, NC – While most of the drag racing community was enduring a harsh US winter, Pat Musi was making the most of a 
last-minute opportunity to refine his 903 cubic inch fuel-injected engine combination.
“The 2014 Arabian Drag Racing League series was about to begin in Qatar, and I didn’t have any plans to be there,” Musi explained. “Then at the last minute Shaikh Mohammad Al Sabah of Kuwait put together a deal for me to go over there and work with his Drag965 team. That set everything in motion to get us here.”
By “here”, Musi is referring to the top of the Pro Modified world.
Pat Musi Racing Engines Brings the Heat to ADRL Summer Drags IX
MARTIN, MI – Pat Musi Racing Engines bolstered its 2013 success with a banner weekend at the ADRL Summer Drags IX on the 
grounds of US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan.
Musi, the Mooresville, North Carolina-based engine builder, had customers using his cutting-edge electronic fuel injected engines and components in several classes of ADRL competition, including Pro Modified, Pro Nitrous and Top Sportsman.
The most recognizable name on the list of racers utilizing Musi power is that of “Tricky” Rickie Smith. Fresh off a win at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, TN, Smith dominated the diverse Summer Drags IX Pro Modified field with a wire-to-wire performance, qualifying on the pole with a 3.873 elapsed time and riding a string of low 3.90-second runs to the final round in his Jerry Bickel Race Cars 2013 Camaro. There he defeated Jimmy Keen with a .029 reaction time to Keen’s .035 light as both drivers ran identical 3.890 elapsed times.
