Following String of Standout Performances, Musi Racing Looking for First PDRA Win of 2019 at Summer Nationals

CECIL, GA — After yet another Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings victory, Lizzy Musi and the Musi Racing team have maintained an impressive streak of final round appearances, but the talented driver has no plans on slowing down heading to this weekend’s Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) Summer Nationals Ignited by Lithium Pros Batteries at South Georgia Motorsports Park.

Musi took the Frank Brandao-owned Edelbrock/Lucas Oil “King Kong 7” Pro Nitrous 2018 Dodge Dart to the final round at the most recent PDRA event in Maryland, which gives her three straight final rounds counting the pair of No Prep Kings victories.

The only thing missing is her first PDRA win of the season, something the Musi Racing team hopes to rectify this weekend in Valdosta.

“We’ve been working on a lot of things and we feel pretty good,” Pat Musi said. “We’re trying to put it all together and get that win. It’s not make or break yet, but we need to go rounds and try to get a win. This is a big one.”

Musi Rides Momentum to Final Round at PDRA North-South Shootout

MECHANICSVILLE, MD — Lizzy Musi moved one step closer to her first Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) win of the 2019 season and continued her impressive two-week run with a final round appearance at last weekend’s PDRA North-South Shootout presented by Line-X at Maryland International Raceway.

Back in Frank Brandao’s Edelbrock/Lucas Oil “King Kong 7” ’18 Dodge Dart, Musi again proved to be a threat in the talent-heavy PDRA Pro Nitrous class. After qualifying eighth with a 3.773 at 205.19 MPH, she went 3.747 at 206.23 MPH to open eliminations with a win over Chris Patrick.

Musi slipped past Ed Burnley a round later before turning it on in the semifinals. There, she posted low ET and top speed of the race with a 3.651 blast at 207.88 MPH, knocking off Todd Fontana’s 3.713 to reach her first PDRA final round of the season.

It was a strong finish to a remarkable two-week stretch that also included Musi’s first No Prep Kings victory. Musi became the first female to win a No Prep Kings race the weekend before, jumping in the Dodge Dart a week later and advancing to the Pro Nitrous final round.

Historic No Prep Kings Win Has Lizzy Musi Riding High into PDRA North-South Shootout

MECHANICSVILLE, MD — It was a historic weekend for Lizzy Musi at New England Dragway, and now the Musi Racing team will look to build on that momentum at this weekend’s Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) North-South Shootout at Maryland International Raceway.

Musi couldn’t be entering the weekend on a better note following her victory at the Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings race in Epping. She became the first female winner in No Prep Kings history, taking the $40,000 prize with an impressive performance in her Edelbrock-equipped “Aftershock” Camaro.

Musi knocked off boyfriend Kye Kelly in the final round, continuing to show remarkable progress in her racing career.

“To be the first woman to win a No Prep Kings event is an honor,” Musi said. “We struggled hard last year. Over the winter we did our homework and worked on coming up with the best combination possible. For me and Kye to be in the finals, it was kind of like a dream.”

Musi Racing Engines Customers Showcase Power Across Several Series in One Weekend

MOORESVILLE, NC — Enjoying success in a number of different series and classes, it turned into a banner weekend for Musi Racing and Pat Musi Racing Engines.

The end result was a No. 1 qualifier for Pro Nitrous standout Lizzy Musi during the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) Mid-Atlantic Showdown at Virginia Motorsports Park, a No. 2 qualifier for NHRA Pro Mod driver Chad Green at the NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta, and an ARP Nitrous Pro Street victory for Tricia Musi at the NMCA Memphis Homecoming race at Memphis International Raceway.

Lizzy continued her strong start to the 2019 PDRA season in her Edelbrock/Lucas Oil “King Kong 7” 2018 Dodge Dart, qualifying No. 1 with a strong 3.650 at 207.02 mph.

After qualifying third at the PDRA season-opener in the Frank Brandao-owned Dart, Musi kept her string of runs in the 3.60s going, as well as her success at VMP. PDRA Mid-Atlantic Showdown Gives Musi Racing Opportunity for More Success at Virginia Motorsports Park

DINWIDDIE, VA — With a strong outing under their belts at the season-opening Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) race last month, Musi Racing is ready to capitalize at Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP).

Lizzy Musi showcased plenty of early-season potential to kick off the 2019 Pro Nitrous season at GALOT Motorsports Park, and now the focus shifts to finishing the job in Frank Brandao’s 2018 Dodge Dart at this weekend’s Mid-Atlantic Showdown presented by Modern Racing.

Musi has enjoyed plenty of success at the track, and will look to crack the win column for a fourth time at VMP this weekend.

“This is a track where we always run well and where Lizzy won her first Pro Nitrous race (in 2014),” Pat Musi said. “The weather is turning hotter, so we’ll get away from swinging for the fences and trying to set records, and get into race mode. But this car is more consistent than it’s ever been and that will help us in this weather.”

Strong Performance, Starting Line Woes Headline Up and Down Weekend for Musi Racing at PDRA East Coast Nationals

BENSON, NC — After a thrilling qualifying run and momentarily setting the Pro Nitrous record, the weekend – and the start of the season – didn’t end the way the Musi Racing team wanted on Sunday at the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) East Coast Nationals presented by FuelTech.

Following an impressive first-round victory on Saturday at GALOT Motorsports Park, Lizzy Musi went red by .017 on the starting line a round later, abruptly ending the team’s solid weekend in Frank Brandao’s Edelbrock and Lucas Oil-backed Pro Nitrous 2018 Dodge Dart.

Musi went a strong 3.646 seconds at 207.91 MPH on the run, but the early start on the tree took away a likely victory against Randy Weatherford, who ran a 3.847 at 192.74 MPH.

Pat Musi chalked it up as a learning experience, noting his daughter’s strong track record on the starting line, and remained excited with how the car performed throughout the weekend.

Musi/Franklin win 2018 Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars

Jason Harris takes Musi power to Championship victory

PITTSBORO, NC – The 2018 Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars is one for the history books. Although a quick look at the 2018 season Pro Nitrous pole setters shows incredible parity in the class, all but one of those drivers relies on Musi Racing Engines power. When it was all said and done after Virginia, a Musi driver was on top of the pack seven out of eight events, with Jay Cox giving Buck Racing Engines one lone #1 qualifier award at the second tour stop.

The incredible part of the Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars dynamic is that only one driver was able to repeat the pole position all year. Tommy Franklin topped Pro Nitrous qualifying at the season opener and then again at the Drag Wars. Other #1 qualifying awards in the first half of the season went to Musi customers Jason Harris and Randy Weatherford.

At the PDRA Fall Nationals at Darlington Dragway, Lizzy Musi went to the top with her 3.677 effort at an incredible 207.28 MPH, becoming the first female of 2018 to hold bragging rights with the coveted Nitrous Bottle Trophy.

New Nitrous ET & Speed Records for Pat Musi Racing Engines

MOORESVILLE, NC — In both 1/8-mile PDRA competition and NHRA Pro Mod’s 1/4-mile battleground, Pat Musi Racing Engines continues to propel its customers to new nitrous-assisted performance records.

During the PDRA Fall Nationals at Darlington Dragway on October 6, relative newcomer Danny Sauro scored the first win of his career in Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous presented by MoTeC, using Musi power to work his way through eliminations before meeting fellow Musi customer and two-time defending champion Tommy Franklin in the final round. Sauro defeated Franklin with a record-setting elapsed time of 3.652 seconds.

“It was a great weekend, and I can’t thank my family and crew enough for all their support,” Sauro said. “I also have to thank the Musi family. They’ve been such a huge help during my time in Pro Nitrous, and they build the best engines in the business.”
