Tasca Ford Backs 55th Anniversary Cobra Jet Reunion At NMRA Norwalk

Norwalk, OH – Back in 2018, NMRA’s sister series, NMCA, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Cobra Jet, and ever since then Cobra Jet owners and fans have clamored for another gathering of Ford’s storied, purpose-built machines. That time has come as Tasca Ford and TascaParts.com again support the 55th Anniversary Cobra Jet Reunion during NMRA’s Ford Homecoming event at Summit Motorsports Park from June 8-11.

“The first Cobra Jet reunion was simply epic, and since that time owners and fans have asked me when we could do another one,” Steve Wolcott, President and CEO of NMRA, said. “With the 55th Anniversary of the Cobra Jet coinciding with NMRA’s silver anniversary, what could be a better time? We’re thrilled to have TascaParts.com again supporting this event, and we can’t wait to see all the classic and modern Cobra Jets in Norwalk.”

Cobra Jet owners can participate in a variety of ways, including a dedicated car show or entries that include the car show and drag racing. Participants will enjoy a Saturday lunch provided by Tasca Ford under a dedicated Cobra Jet Reunion tent in the car show, and fans can enjoy a variety of Cobra Jet vehicles from a legendary chapter in Ford’s performance history.

Race Wrap—24th Annual Whipple Superchargers NMRA World Finals Featuring The Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival

Bowling Green, KY – The 24th Annual Whipple Superchargers NMRA All-Ford World Finals presented by Competition Clutch & Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, wrapped up another successful and action-packed season. In addition to the championship Holley NMRA drag racing, attendees were enthralled with the screaming drift cars of Vaughn Gittin Jr., Chelsea DeNofa and newcomer Adam LZ, the tire-blasting burnout contest, an off-road course, and new for this year, the Retro Meet.

The 16-car field of VP Racing Madditives Renegade was tight, with defending and two-time champion Joel Greathouse leading the charge in qualifying with a 4.52. The finals came down to Greathouse and his KBX Performance teammate Shawn Pevlor, with Pevlor collecting his first NMRA win in his nitrous-assisted machine, 4.51 to 4.58.

Right from testing on Thursday, it looked to be a tight battle between JDM Engineering Limited Street points leader Samantha Moore and rookie Del Holbrook, as the two continually clocked personal best ETs and qualified first and second respectively. Moore was also the first Limited Street racer to post a 7-second pass in competition and set the class record once again. In the final round of eliminations, however, Holbrook took the advantage at the tree (.111 to .192) and a hot tuneup netted him a winning 7.94 to Moore’s 8.01.

Race Wrap | Arrington Performance NMRA/NMCA Power Festival Presented by TorqStorm

Martin, MI – The weekend began with promise. Sunny skies paved the way to a huge field of race cars, a sprawling manufacturer’s midway, and a vibrant selection of beautiful muscle machines in the UPR Products Car Show on the property at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, for the 2nd Annual Arrington Performance NMRA/NMCA Power Festival Presented by TorqStorm Superchargers.

However, as racers rolled out of qualifying into eliminations on Saturday evening, the weather had other ideas. A storm with high winds and heavy rain rolled in, halting the action for the night. The rain persisted deep into Sunday, but the NMRA/NMCA track-prep team worked tirelessly to restore the racing action.

Alas, the time and weather meant that every class couldn’t be completed and send all the victors to the Winner’s Circle. The remaining categories will wrap up at the World Finals in Bowling Green, Kentucky, making for an exciting championship points battle at the final race weekend of the year.

VP Racing Madditives Renegade ran in conjunction with Edelbrock Xtreme Street this weekend to the tune of 24 race cars. The quickest NMRA car in the bunch was Stephen Barnett’s beautiful Fox which laid down a 4.63 at 153mph pass to claim the third qualified spot.

Race Wrap—2022 22nd Annual NMRA Ford Performance Nationals

Norwalk, OH – Mild weather and conditions prime for record-setting runs graced the racers and crowds attending the 22nd Annual NMRA Ford Performance Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park over the weekend of June 10-12, 2022. When the forecast shifted to show rain on Sunday, though, officials pivoted to push through two rounds of eliminations on Saturday evening and the wise decision enabled the race to be run to completion well ahead of the original schedule.

Outside of the requisite on-track action and exciting winner’s circle festivities, there was a lot to see over the weekend as the UPR Products Car Show was filled with stunning late-model and vintage Fords of all types with the top-12 being invited back for the exclusive Ring of Fire competition. Additionally, the original BIGFOOT 4×4 monster truck that revolutionized off-roading and the Ford Model T Club International were both on hand to show contrasting creations while the Ford GT Gathering showcased their supercars for all to see.

Back-to-back NMRA VP Racing Madditives Renegade champion Joel Greathouse continued to extend his points lead for the season when he ran 4.600 at 153.67 mph to take the top spot in qualifying with his turbocharged 1993 Ford Mustang. Greathouse held on strong throughout eliminations, and his Bennett Racing Engines power put him in the finals against Jason Riley who had qualified third. The two men, who both fly the KBX Performance flag, left the line together and carried the wheels in a side-by-side rip to the 660-foot mark but it was Greathouse who got there first with his 4.640 at 152.33 mph run to Riley’s 4.709 at 147.88 mph pass.
