LAMB, LANG, AND NERO SCORE IN CHANDLER
CHANDLER, AZ – Justin Lamb, Jody Lang, and Paul Nero marched to victory and celebrated with their teams in 
winner’s circle this past weekend at the NHRA Arizona Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Ariz.
Lamb, Henderson, Nev., continued the title defense of his 2017 Lucas Oil Super Stock World Championship with a victory over local driver Mike Cotten of Cave Creek. Cotten took a late start and broke out attempting to catch Lamb running 10.025 seconds, 130.99 mph. Lamb notched a victory pass of 8.513 seconds, 149.02 mph.
Stock stand out Lang, Puyallup, Wash., captured his 29th national event victory and 20th Stock win as Brian McClanahan, Alta Loma, Calif., triggered the red light at the starting line. Lang cruised to victory in his Chevy Malibu at 12.328 seconds, 94.78 mph.
WINNERS CROWNED AT NHRA SOUTHEAST LUCAS OIL OPENER
ORLANDO, FL – Eight racers took home wins and the NHRA Wally trophy this weekend at the NHRA Southeast 
Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series season opener at Orlando Speed World Dragway.
Les Feist, Clearwater, Minn., and Donny Urban, Selma, N.C., led the way taking the win in the Hickory Enclosed Trailer Sales Top Dragster class and the Stott’s Ford Top Sportsman class respectively. Feist went up against Danny Waters Jr., Lagrange. N.C., as the pair left the line together with Feist clocking in at 6.266 seconds at 212.63 mph for the win with Waters running a 7.261 second at 182.75 mph. Urban took a close win against Travis Harvey, Burlington, N.C., running 6.707 seconds at 203.34 mph in his ’06 Cobalt to Harvey’s 6.779, 200.41 in his ’68 Camaro. This is Urbans second Top Sportsman divisional event win.
In Comp Eliminator, two of the east coast hitters went head to head for the win. David Rampy, Piedmont, Ala., ran his ’32 Altered to a 7.194 second, 181.30 mph lap to beat Frank Aragona, Freehold, N.J., in his dragster at 7.382 seconds, 167.55 mph. The win was Rampy’s 59th at the divisional level.
THE SOUTHEAST DIVISION OPENS WITH THE RPM WINTER WARM-UP
ORLANDO, FL – The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Southeast Division arrives at Orlando Speed World Dragway for the RPM Winter Warm-Up on February 23-24. The event is one of 44 scheduled across the country where drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division’s Stott’s Ford Top Sportsman Series and Hickory Enclosed Trailer Sales Top Dragster Series will also be run in conjunction with the event.
Gates at Orlando Speed World Dragway open at 8 a.m. each day. Qualifying and time trials start at 9 a.m. Friday. Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman qualify Friday at 11 a.m., 2:30 and 6:00 p.m., with Pro Mod qualifying at noon, 3:30 and 7:00 p.m. Elimination rounds for all classes will begin on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and will continue throughout the day. Round 1 for Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman is set for 11:00 a.m. followed by Pro Mod.
COWIE, WESTERFIELD LEAD WINNERS AT LUCAS OIL SEASON OPENER
POMONA, CA – Shawn Cowie and Shane Westerfield each took home big wins at the season-opening 58th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
Cowie and Westerfield were joined by a pair of first time winners in Steve Will and Paul Mitsos, and six other champions who took home the NHRA Wally trophy.
Cowie took out reigning NHRA Lucas Oil Top Alcohol Dragster World Champion Joey Severance and former world champion Chris Demke in rounds one and two, then faced off with Garrett Bateman, Albany, Ore., in the final. Bateman had the early lead but smoked the tires early in the run and could only watch as Cowie, Surrey, B.C., shot passed to a 5.333 second, 277.03 mph run for his 11th NHRA national event win.

NHRA LUCAS OIL SERIES RETURNS TO NUMIDIA DRAGWAY
GLENDORA, CA – NHRA officials announced that Numidia Dragway will host an NHRA Northeast Division Lucas 
Oil Drag Racing Series event on June 15-17, 2018. This event replaces the originally scheduled event at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park and marks the first return to the Numidia Dragway since 2004.
The event will be the third in the Northeast division, and will follow events at Virginia Motorsports Park and Maple Grove Raceway that kick off the season. The track will host a test and tune on Thursday, June 14. More info on the event, including the event schedule, will be announced soon.

Summit Motorsports Park Named Track of the Year
Summit Motorsports Park was named Track of the Year during the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) North 
Central Division Land of the Winners Awards Banquet, Dec. 9, 2017 at the Wyndham Indianapolis West in Indiana.
The event honoring the 2017 champions in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Summit Racing Series, Top Sportsman Series, Top Dragster Series, Jegs Super Quick Series and Summit Racing Equipment Junior Drag Racing League was attended by hundreds of racers and race fans who enjoyed a meal and camaraderie while celebrating accomplishments.
This marks the eighteenth time Summit Motorsports Park has received Track of the Year honors, including eight times by the NHRA, three times by the National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) and seven times by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA).
LUCAS OIL EXTENDS NHRA SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT
GLENDORA, CA – Lucas Oil Products announced today that the organization is renewing its longstanding sponsor

COWIE, LOMBARDO LEAD WINNERS IN POMONA
POMONA, CA – Shawn Cowie and John Lombardo Jr. led the list of winners for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and the Auto Club Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
Cowie, Surrey, B.C., picked up career win number ten in Top Alcohol Dragster as he took out Julie Nataas of Santa Barbara, Calif., in the final round. Nataas was out first but Cowie quickly made up the difference and raced to a 5.272 second lap at 274.72 mph. Nataas qualified No. 1 with a great 5.115, 280.49 mph lap but slowed in the final clocking in at 5.481, 272.50. The win was Cowie’s fourth of the year.
Brea, Calif., racer Lombardo grabbed his third win in 2017 by knocking out Annie Whiteley in the Top Alcohol Funny Car final. Lombardo won on a hole shot crossing the finish line in 5.420 seconds, 271.41 mph to the quicker Whiteley at 5.417, 273.22.
