Memphis Summit SuperSeries track champions honored
WEST PALM BEACH, FL — The International Hot Association (IHRA) Summit SuperSeries program crowns a true 
Top (Box), Mod (No Box) and Junior Dragster World Champion each year.
The two ways to qualify for the annual IHRA Summit World Finals held in October at Memphis International Raceway are to win the Summit SuperSeries track championship at one of the participating member tracks or by winning the IHRA Summit Team Finals in your division.
Many tracks held banquets to recognize 2017 IHRA Summit SuperSeries track champions including those featured here from Memphis International Raceway.
World Series of Drag Racing Announces Strong Sponsor Line-up for the 63rd Running of the Prestigious Event

MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis International Raceway (MIR) and IRG Sports + Entertainment (IRGSE) today 
demonstrated widespread motorsports industry support in announcing its sponsor line-up. The World Series of Drag Racing presented by Sunoco and Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau is partnering with an elite group of sponsors for the August 26 and 27 event at MIR including: Sunoco, Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau, Coca-Cola, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Autobahn Indoor Speedway, R.J.S. Racing Equipment and Seatbelt Solutions.

Largest Super Chevy Show on Record at Memphis International Raceway
Fans turned out in record numbers to support the largest all Chevy automotive show in the country
MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis International Raceway and TEN: The Enthusiast Network celebrated the 30th running of 
the Super Chevy Show over the weekend and the fans showed up in record numbers for the three-day event. The world’s largest Chevy automotive event featured drag racing action, a premiere car and truck show, sold out swap meet, car corral, vendor midway and much more.
The drag strip competition was highlighted by several different sportsman classes, the CamaroGuys.com Gen 5 challenge, small tire shootout and the U.S. Southern Shootout Pro Modifieds over the weekend. Each class had an opportunity to walk away with a cash prize and bragging rights as the winner of the Super Chevy Show.
The CamaroGuys.com Gen 5 challenge, Bracket 1 and Bracket 2 classes competed on Saturday with Kevin Martin, Jason Mckague and Andrew Wallace, respectively, taking home the top spot.
Don ‘Big Daddy’ Garlits to Serve as Grand Marshal for the 2016 World Series of Drag Racin
MEMPHIS, TN – Just under 150 days from the biggest event to take place at the Memphis International Raceway (MIR) in nearly seven years, raceway officials today announced six premier drivers who will compete in the 2016 World Series of Drag Racing presented by Sunoco and the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau, slated for Aug. 26 and 27. These drivers are among the many who will compete in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Nostalgia, U.S. Pro Mods and Fortune Hunter Big Buck Series categories. Don “Big Daddy” Garlits will serve as this year’s grand marshal.
“The King of Dragsters” and patriarch of Top Fuel Drag Racing, Garlits will lead the highly anticipated event featuring drivers such as current NHRA world champion and two-time K&N Horsepower Challenge winner Erica Enders-Sanders, who will race five-time Pro Stock champion and Super Gas world title holder Jeg Coughlin. Enders-Sanders is the first female Pro Stock champion and took home the U.S. nationals title in Indianapolis last year, and Coughlin is ranked ninth among the best drag racers of all time.
Memphis International Raceway to Host B.R.A.K.E.S. Teen Safe Driving Program During World Series of Drag Racing Weekend
Event to be held in honor of Dalton Millican, son of local Drummonds, Tennessee, native, six-time IHRA World Champion and NHRA Top Fuel racer Clay Millican
MEMPHIS, TN – Today, Memphis International Raceway (MIR) announced that Allen Johnson, the 2012 National Hot Rod Association Mello Yello Pro Stock Champion, and The H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation will bring the teen safe driving program B.R.A.K.E.S. to the raceway for the first time ever in conjunction with the World Series of Drag Racing presented by Sunoco and the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau on Aug. 27 and 28.
B.R.A.K.E.S., which stands for Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe, is an organization founded by fellow drag racing champion Doug Herbert in 2008, following the tragic highway accident that claimed the lives of his young sons, Jon and James. The nationally acclaimed teen proactive driving school teaches advanced behind-the-wheel defensive driving and accident avoidance in KIA-provided vehicles. Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28 at Memphis International Raceway, 5500 Victory Lane in Millington.

USA’s oldest drag racing event moves to a new location with new energy and support from Sunoco and the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau
MEMPHIS, TN – IRG Sports + Entertainment™ (IRGSE), a TPG portfolio company, Sunoco, and the Memphis 
Convention and Visitors Bureau announced today that the World Series of Drag Racing is returning this summer, but to a new and larger facility in a major league sports market. The world’s longest continually running drag racing event will celebrate its 63rd year at the Mid-South’s premiere motorsports destination, Memphis International Raceway (MIR) August 26 – 27 with support from Sunoco and the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The transition to MIR moves the historic event to a centralized location that can withstand the growth potential and bring in even more racers, fans, vendors, live music and much more. The new facility will serve as a fitting showcase for the world’s fastest drag racing and focus on a fan and racer friendly atmosphere. The two days of nonstop drag racing action will include professional racers from around the country as well as local sportsman racers competing to become the next Champion of the World Series of Drag Racing presented by Sunoco and the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau.
2016 Memphis International Raceway Schedule Announcement
Over 100 events scheduled at the premiere facility
MILLINGTON, TN – Memphis International Raceway (MIR) is pleased to announce the 2016 drag strip schedule. The Mid-South’s premiere racing destination for racers and spectators alike will host a multitude of weekly and national events during the 2016 season.
The season-opener is slated for Saturday, February 13 with a Test N Tune session for all street legal vehicles on the ¼-mile drag strip. MIR will also host regular favorites such as Midnight Madness with Traction Optional Drift, Street Warz, Sunday Funday with Drifting, and the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams.
Summit Racing Equipment Inks Multi-Year Title Sponsorship Renewals
Summit Bracket Racing Series and IHRA Summit Racing Equipment World Finals continue at Memphis International Raceway
MILLINGTON, TN – The world’s largest automotive performance equipment company, Summit Racing Equipment has signed a multi-year deal to return as the title sponsor of the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) World Finals and the 14-race Bracket Racing Series program at Memphis International Raceway (MIR).
The Summit Racing Equipment World Finals features two championship tournaments for the best racers in IHRA’s sportsman classes. Racers from all over the country come together at MIR to determine who the best-of-the-best is. Seven champions in the Summit Racing Equipment Tournament of Champions presented by AMSOIL and three champions with the Summit SuperSeries presented by AMSOIL are crowned at the Summit Racing Equipment World Finals. The premiere sportsman championship event is slated for October 14-16, 2016.

Drivers have just three more chances to move up the standings
MILLINGTON, TN – After banding together to claim a runner-up finish at the IHRA Team Finals, the bracket racers 
at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) return to their more familiar roles as competitors for this weekend’s Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams on Saturday, Oct. 17.
The MIR season is headed to its home stretch with this weekend’s event and two November bracket races left on the schedule, every round gains extra significance.
MIR’s bracket racers are gunning for every point they can as the season is drawing to a close.
Knoxville Wins Team Final
Memphis International Raceway was second with Holly Springs third
MILLINGTON, TN – Knoxville Dragstrip rode the wave of an incredibly successful first round on Sunday to dominate 
the Summit IHRA Team Finals at Memphis International Raceway (MIR).
Of the 29 drivers in three classes that Knoxville sent to the starting line for the first round, 24 of them came away victorious. That gave Knoxville a comfortable cushion over both the MIR team and the team from Holly Springs, which battled it out for second and third.
It’s the first team title for Knoxville in the four years this event has been hosted at MIR. Memphis won in 2012 and 2013 and Holly Springs was the defending champion.
