JFR Looking For a Return to Their Winning Ways

HIGHT LOOKING FOR WIN No. 3 AT FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

CHARLOTTE, NC – In the past three seasons no driver has enjoyed as much success at the unique NHRA Four-Wide Auto Club in the lanesNationals than Robert Hight and his Auto Club team. The crewman turned driver has been one of the most dominant drivers in the category over the past decade and his two wins at zMax Dragway’s premier spring event have come as a result of his two biggest strengths: focus and teamwork.

“The main thing I try and do is just not get distracted. You have to run your own race. I just focus on what I have to do and not get caught up in the fact that there are three other race cars on the track. It is a great event for the fans and Charlotte is a growing market for NHRA,” said Hight, a 34-time Funny Car national event winner. “The challenge for this race is similar to other races when you consider how competitive the Funny Car class is. You have to be at the top of your game to get round wins. The benefit with the Four-Wide is you just have to be the first or second Funny Car across the finish line until that last race.”

In just here third appearance at the famed Gatornationals Brittany Force and her JFR Top Fuel dragster team raced to the provisional No. 2 spot right behind Top Fuel champion Tony Schumacher. Force’s run of 3.817 seconds at 318.09 mph held up as the best run until Schumacher made the final run, 3.796 seconds, of the day.

“It felt like a nice smooth run. It went straight down there and put that 3.81 on the scoreboard so the team was excited about that. We wound up No. 2 and that is great when you consider how tricky it is out here. On our qualifying pass earlier I thought it was going to go down there and it blew the tires off. We didn’t get much from that run which is disappointing. On the second run all I wanted was a clean pass. I didn’t care is we ended up low or No. 12 I just wanted a clean pass under power going into Saturday,” said Force, the No. 10 driver in the Mello Yello point standings.

“There was a little bobble early in the run. There was just a little bit of shake and I almost lifted. I moved over just a little and I think that movement was just enough to keep us from getting around Del’s run. We will be ready for Gainesville in two weeks.
