JOHN FORCE WINS NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS

EPPING, NH – Once again John Force rose to the occasion and came up big when it mattered the most. Facing John Force - Epping win, Gary NastaseTommy Johnson Jr., the No. 1 qualifier and arguably the most consistent Funny Car on the property, Force raced his Peak Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS to victory at the 3rd annual New England Nationals. As the No. 3 qualifier Force defeated Dave Richards, Matt Hagan and Cruz Pedregon to reach his 240th final round and secure his 143rd win over Johnson Jr.

“I raced here 38 or 40 years ago before most of you were born to come back and have one race on the circuit that I couldn’t win; I needed this race win. One of these days I am going to go out and it is going to break my heart but I ain’t leaving until I win all of them and now I’ll try and win all of them twice. This was a great day,” said Force from the winner’s circle stage. “My daughter (Courtney Force) spanked me in the inaugural race and I tried to screw her up in the first race but I couldn’t do it. I taught her too well. I am giving this trophy to Peak Antifreeze and Coolant and BlueDef. They were the first ones to take a chance on me last year. Lucas Oil and Chevrolet joined us and now Monster Energy is with us. We have Auto Club, Mac Tools and Traxxas and all these great companies share in this win.”

You can tell they are bummed and they really wanted to take home that win but I am so proud of them and especially my crew chiefs Todd Smith and Ronnie Thompson,” said Force.

JOHN FORCE IN THE MIX ON RECORD SETTING DAY AT KANSAS NATIONALS -COURTNEY FORCE SETS NATIONAL SPEED RECORD

TOPEKA, KS – Before today the most three second Funny Car runs NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series fans had John Force - Kansas, Sat - Gary Nataseseen at a single event was seven at the Winternationals in 2014. That included two days of qualifying and a day of eliminations. In just three rounds of qualifying at the 27th annual NHRA Kansas Nationals eight three second Funny Car runs were executed by seven different drivers including John Force’s 3.99 second run that locked him into the No. 5 qualifying position.

“This is the toughest Funny Car field I have ever been up against. When you look at the potential it is amazing. (No. 1 qualifier) Chad Head running 3.967 seconds and you look at (No. 2 qualifier) Tim Wilkerson running 3.971 seconds these are not big funded teams,” said Force, a nine-time winner at the NHRA Kansas Nationals. “When the good Lord brings air in here like this to go along with their good tune-ups everybody will flex their muscles. (Chad Head’s crew chief and father) Jim Head is no dummy. He is a sharp cookie and so is Tim Wilkerson. We expect to see quick numbers from Schumacher Racing and of course our team is right there too. I ran a 3.99 with a young crew led by crew chief Jon Schaffer. This is a fast race track and that is why they have to keep it.”

COURTNEY FORCE RACES TRAXXAS CHEVROLET TO NATIONAL SPEED RECORD

TOPEKA, KS – During the third qualifying session of the 27th annual NHRA Kansas Nationals Courtney Force drove Courtney Force, MPH Record - Topekaher Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car into the record books as the NHRA Funny Car national speed record holder with a run of 4.020 seconds at 325.06 mph. On Friday night Force ran 324.20 mph which was faster than the current national record set by her father, John Force, at 324.12 mph at the Winternationals in Pomona in 2014

“My dad was picking on me a little bit because I didn’t realize he held the old record. Our Traxxas team has been capable of running fast speeds since we ran 327 mph in Las Vegas but we weren’t able to back that speed up for the record. It is exciting to be able to set the record here in Topeka. I feel like I have had some pretty good luck at this track. We made another great memory here with that run,” said Force. “We were hoping to back up the 324 mph run and to be able to run faster and have that run back up a new record makes me proud of my whole team which is led by (crew chief) Ron Douglas. They give me a great race car and even though we didn’t have the quickest ET we are happy with the speed. Our real goal is to have a consistent race car this weekend.”
