NHRA JEGS ALLSTARS TO BE FEATURED LIVE ON FOX SPORTS 1

GLENDORA, CA – NHRA officials announced today that the final rounds from the NHRA JEGS Allstars competition are scheduled to be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 on Saturday, July 8, during the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series professional qualifying show  from the Fallen Patriots Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by K&N, which airs from 5-7 p.m. ET.  Complete coverage of the JEGS Allstars specialty event will be shown during the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series coverage of the event on Fox Sports 2 on Thursday, July 20, from 8-9 p.m. ET.

The JEGS Allstar competition features the best NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series racers from across the county in head to head 8-car eliminators highlighted by the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car classes.   In addition to individual titles, competitors are also racing for the coveted Division and Regional Team Championships.  Other categories include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street along with Top Sportsman and Top Dragster presented by Racing RV’s.

NHRA Sportsman set to shine at JEGS Allstars event

JOLIET, IL – This weekend, the focus of the drag racing world will be on NHRA Sportsman drivers as the 33rd annual JEGS Allstars race takes center stage during the Fallen Patriots NHRA Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.

The JEGS Allstars competition is a unique event that crowns individual champions in 10 separate eliminators, in addition to an overall team champion. A highlight of each season for a third of a century, the JEGS Allstars event features a total purse of more than $120,000 plus an additional $50,000 in manufacturer’s contingency postings, making it one of the richest events of its kind.

JEGS ALLSTAR POINTS CHANGE FOR 2018 EVENT

GLENDORA, CA – NHRA announced a change to the structure in which racers earn points toward a birth in the popular JEGS Allstar program. Beginning with the 2018 JEGS Allstar event, racers will now count their best five in-division events toward their JEGS Allstar point’s total.

Previously a racer would count all in-division events toward their points total but by moving to a racer’s best five events, it will open the program up to more JEGS Allstar hopefuls. The point’s structure will continue to be a 12-month point’s battle in that events in the second part of 2017, along with events at the beginning of 2018 will count towards a racers 2018 points total.

Trevor Larson’s historic double keys Division 5’s JEGS Allstars win

CHICAGO – Trevor Larson became the first driver in the 32-year history of the JEGS Allstars event to double up with Trevor Larson - Jegs Allstar 2016wins in Super Comp and Super Gas. Larson’s two victories helped lead the team from the NHRA North Central Division to its second overall team title in the last three years in the prestigious event that features NHRA’s best Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Sportsman drivers.

Thanks to Larson and his Division 5 teammate J.J. Heber, who won the Top Sportsman title, the team finished with 1,100 points, while Division 3, its closest adversary, finished with 900 points in the team competition.

Larson, who also won a JEGS Allstars title in 2014, won the Super Comp class in his dragster with an 8.93-second run to stop Division 4 racer Austin Williams, who broke out with an 8.88 on the 8.90 index. Larson, of Starbuck, Minn., completed the historic feat when he drove his Corvette to the Super Gas title over Division 7 racer Mike Wiblishouser. In that final, Larson’s 9.96 won over Wiblishouser’s 9.89 breakout.

JEGS ALLSTARS SET TO BATTLE AT ROUTE 66 RACEWAY

JOLIET, IL – For 32 years, the JEGS Allstars has brought together the top racers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Jegs AllstarsRacing Series to face off in a battle of the “Best of the Best”. The 2016 JEGS Allstars event will take place on Saturday, July 9, at Route 66 Raceway during the Route 66 NHRA Nationals. The $124,000 race within a race will pit the top point’s earners from NHRA’s seven geographic divisions and four Top Alcohol regions against each other in the culmination of a yearlong point’s battle.

Competitors in Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman will compete for team and individual honors and a share of the $124,000 purse. Event Sponsor, Jegs High Performance, has also offered a “double-up” bonus to racers. Any Allstars representative who wins the Allstars event and goes on to win the national event will have their Allstar prize money doubled.

Westerfield heading to chicago for first All Star race

West Coast hitter Shane Westerfield makes his first appearance ever at the prestigious Jegs Allstars race, run in Jegs Allstarsconjunction with this weekend’s Route 66 Nationals in Chicago. One of the top two points earners from the Western Region, the toughest region in the country for Top Alcohol Funny Cars year after year, Westerfield will be competing for the first time in months after missing Houston to return home to California for the birth of his first child, daughter Corah.

“I’m excited about running the Allstars race for the first time and can’t wait for the first run,” he said. “CP-Carrillo has a new piston forging and an all-new connecting-rod design that we’re going to try, and the last few times we ran the car it was pretty fast, so we feel like we have a real chance this year. This’ll be a real road trip for once, with my dad, my wife Kayleigh, and Corah in the totorhome with me.”

CONTINGENCY AWARDS ADDED FOR JEGS ALLSTARS FINALISTS

GLENDORA, CA – NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series sportsman racers who qualify for the JEGS Allstars in their Jegs Allstarsrespective categories will have an added incentive to perform this year with the addition of nearly $47,000 in manufacturer contingency awards.

Finalists in Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Sportsman, and Top Dragster will be able to pad their winnings by using the manufacturer’s products and displaying the accompanying decal on their vehicles. Each posting company will pay $100 to the winner in each class and $50 to the runner-up.

LUKE BOGACKI EARNS JEGS ALL-STARS CROWN ON MICKEY THOMPSON TIRES AND WHEELS

Stow, OH – Mickey Thompson-sponsored Luke Bogacki, the 2014 NHRA Super Gas Champion, has added the JEGS Luke Bogacki, Jegs Allstars victoryAll-Stars Championship crown to his expansive list of professional accomplishments.

Competing with Mickey Thompson ET Drag 3191W tires and ET Drag Pro 5 Wheels, Bogacki represented the North Central Division in Super Gas. In his first appearance in the JEGS All-Stars competition, Bogacki led an eight-car field in his Corvette roadster.

“Everyone works all season with the hope of earning a spot in this race,” said Bogacki. “To earn the win, I had to beat three of the best racers in the world – a tall order! Our Mickey Thompson tires and wheels helped us get the job done, and it was incredible.”

Division 2 team wins JEGS Allstars title in dramatic fashion

CHICAGO – The team championship for the 31st annual JEGS Allstars race wasn’t determined until the final round 2015 Jegs Allstarsof the final race, but when the smoke cleared, the NHRA Southeast Division (Division 2) had claimed its seventh overall team title at the prestigious event.

Division 2 was led by Kevin Brannon and Jeffrey Barker, who claimed wins in Super Comp and Top Sportsman, respectively, and enjoyed a strong outing from Jeff Strickland, who earned a runner-up finish in Stock.

The Southeast Division’s seventh title ties it with the North Central and Northeast Divisions for the most championships at the historic event.
