DragStory to cover NHRA Division 2 Lucas Oil Series

BRADENTON, Fl – This weekend is the start of the 2011 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing series with the season opening race at division two’s Bradenton Motorsports Park outside Bradenton FL.  DragStory.com will be on hand to cover the event from the first round of qualifying on Friday through the finals on Sunday afternoon.

DragStory will cover all 5 Division 2 events in 2011.  “Expanding our photo journalism to the Lucas series is a natural progression of what we do at DragStory.com”, stated editor Mark Walter.  “We are dedicated to providing the highest level of visibility for sportsman racers across the world of drag racing.”

As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.  With over 1.6 million page views of their event photo coverage since the website came on line in June of 2009, the old adage appears to be true.

Racing Starts Early Livin’ in the South!

Warner Robins, GA – One of the great things about living in the south is the racing we can do nearly year round.  I happened out to the our home track, Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA for the first test and tune session of the year.  With temps hovering right around 70 degrees and clear skies I was able to get a few shots to share with our faithful readers.  Hope this helps cheer up my northern friends as they brace for yet another snow storm mid week!

Yellow Bullet Nationals Live from Cecil County

Rising Sun, Md – It’s here, the most anticipated race event of the fast door car world for 2010.  With it’s huge success as the leading message board and community in the fast door car world of drag racing, it was a natural fit to have an outlaw race with the Yellow Bullet name.

“It’s been years in the making” stated board owner Monty Mihko, “the guys have talked to me for the last few seasons about doing a race.  With the direction of many organizations in question we felt it was time to do this.”  When asked if this would become an annual event, Mihko had this to say, “Ask me on the Wednesday after…but seriously, we are hoping to do this again.  I can’t thank the vendors and sponsor enough for their support of this race.   They are making the difference.”

Look for live internet coverage of the race on DragStory.com’s Outlaw TV, http://odrtv.com, starting with the first round of qualifying at 10:00 am on Saturday morning

As you can see, the pits are already starting to fill with race rigs and was only 10:00 am with this picture was taken. We are currently overcast from hurricane Earl with a possibility of showers until about 4 Friday afternnon.  The rest of the weekend looks like it’s going to be great!

Dragstory.com Introduces Event Text Messaging Service

BAYTOWN, TX – Always looking to be the innovator in live coverage, Dragstory.com will be testing a new text alert messaging system at this weekend’s American Drag Racing League event at Houston Raceway Park.

“We realize folks have other commitments during the many hours these events are running and may not be able to catch all of the coverage during the weekend,” stated Dragstory.com editor Mark Walter.  “This is the perfect tool to help us keep folks as up to date as possible with the latest news and happenings at any event we cover.”

The initial plan is to send text messages when the classes are called to the lanes or there is any significant event such as a top elapse time or mph run.  We will keep the messages to a minimum; just remember you are responsible for any charges by your cell phone provider.

Some Days Stuff Happens!

Warner Robins, GA – Earlier today our automated email post notification system had a serious failure that launch several thousand emails across the subscriber-ship of DragStory.com.  We don’t quite understand what happened, nor do we care at this point.   All email list, as well as the offending program, have been removed from our servers.  If by chance you received emails from us today or from someone requesting you removed them from the system, please delete the emails.  We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and will no longer offer a subscription for new posts.

Change…It’s a Good Thing…Time for a New Motor and Blower at DragStory.com!

Warner Robins, GA – One of the most difficult things in life is change.  According to Mark Twain, the only person that likes change is a baby with a wet diaper.  When DragStory started last June, we had hoped to see somewhere between 3 and 4000 page views of the first event we covered. You can imagine how surprised we were when our coverage of the ADRL’s Ford Drive One Nationals at Martin Michigan saw over 33,000 page views. Since that first race, our event coverage has been viewed nearly 900,000 times! We expect to easily exceed 1 million page views by our first anniversary in June. It boggles our minds, we can’t thank you enough for your support.

With such dramatic growth in a very short period of time, our current server has struggled to keep up with the demand. I’m certain many of you experienced frustration when the site tanked on us in Houston a few weeks back. Well, in order to prevent any downtime in the future, we’ve migrated DragStory to it’s new home with our other servers at the Planet in Houston.  The change-over took place this past weekend and went fairly well given how big the site has become in 9 months. We have over 12,000 pictures in our galleries alone!
