Captivating Cars in Spotlight at Cavalcade of Stars

With a $1.6 million track reconstruction project nearly complete, racers will be competing on new concrete at the 12th Annual Cavalcade of Stars presented by Budweiser, May 18-20, 2018 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

Among the categories of this NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event are Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and Pro Stock Snowmobile.

While the payout is already plentiful in the event’s quickest and fastest categories, Top Alcohol Dragster, which sees 285-plus mph vehicles, and Top Alcohol Funny Car, which sees 270-plus mph vehicles, Summit Motorsports Park has put up $11,600 for drivers qualifying, pushing the total purse to close to $30,000.

Added adrenaline will come from the R&R Auto Body and DeCerbo Construction Rumble Wars Extreme 8, a five-race Pro Mod series which debuts at this event and will also be contested at the JR1 Racing Oil Monster Mopar Weekend, July 27-29, Kelly Services Night Under Fire, Aug. 11, 17th Annual Honeywell Garrett NMCA All-American Nationals, Aug. 23-26 and Summit Racing Equipment Shakedown at the Summit presented by Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels, Sept. 13-16, all at Summit Motorsports Park.

Flames will fly with Scotty “Heat” Holdridge and his 50 Cal jet engine-powered dragster, Sarah Edwards and her Queen of Diamonds II jet engine-powered dragster and Rich Hanna and Ken Hall and their jet engine-powered Funny Cars. Ten ScottRod’s AA/Gassers will gallop down track, and fireworks will fill the sky on May 19.

“There are so many things about this event that make it the experience that it is,” said Bill Bader Jr., Summit Motorsports Park president. “It has really grown, and people have really put it on their radars. It’s now a must-attend event, and I, for one, am very anxious to see all of the cars go down the new track surface. It’s going to be pretty special.”

Summit Motorsports Park is at 1300 State Route 18, Norwalk, Ohio. For tickets and more information, call 419-668-5555 or visit www.summitmotorsportspark.com.
