Andrew Hines Doubles Up at Sonoma
Pro Stock Motorcycle rider wins Pro Bike Battle, Wally
Stow, OH – Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Andrew Hines had a great weekend at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals.
Hines beat teammate Eddie Krawiec in the final round of the Mickey Thompson Pro Bike Battle Saturday after besting Hector Arana, Jr. and 2018 Pro Bike Battle champion Matt Smith in the winner-take-all event.
In addition to taking home a $25,000 check for winning the Pro Bike Battle, Hines earned a Wally in Pro Stock Motorcycle, his seventh in an impressive 2019 season for the Harley Davidson rider. Hines beat rival Smith by .02-seconds with a 6.790-second lap at 198.00-mph to double-up at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals.

New to the 2019 Pro Bike Battle, first-round pairings were decided on stage during a pre-race ceremony only moments before competition began. The riders selected a special Mickey Thompson tire. The inside of each tire was numbered one through four. Those riders with the same number inside were paired against each other for the opening round.
Additionally, one lucky fan won a free set of Mickey Thompson tires after grabbing one of the eight special M/T swag bags offered during the pre-battle autograph session at the Mickey Thompson trailer. Racing fan Jeremiah Robinson chose the bag that included a special T-Shirt with Hines’ name on it, and when Hines secured the win, Robinson secured a new set of Mickey Thompson truck tires.
“I am so thankful and I can’t wait to show and tell my friends and family how much fun I had,” Robinson said. “I have to attend all three days next year. Everyone on the M/T team was awesome!”
The Pro Stock Motorcycle category races next at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in September. Hines is currently in first with a 197-point lead over Krawiec. Matt Smith is in third.
