Anarchy under the Arch II returns to Gateway this Thursday – Saturday

Anarchy Under the Arch II returns to Gateway Motorsports Park Thursday through Saturday and with it, the Street Car Super Nationals is bringing some changes that should not only increase the car count in a town world-renowned for its doorslammer loyalty, but the quality of racing as well.

St. Louis was specifically chosen to be the second site of the legendary Street Car Super Nationals due to the region’s love of drag racing and Gateway’s reputation, one that extends back decades when racers launched from where the sand trap is now.

“We’ve changed the format of the Flying A Motorsports Outlaw Pro Mod class to eighth mile,” said SCSN President Mel Roth. “We’ve talked to the track and to the racers and we feel this will not only increase the car count, but should provide a better show as well. For the 1320 purists, we’re running a NHRA-rules Pro Mod class as well, so I think we have a situation where we can have our cake and eat it, too.”

In order to ensure Gateway’s regulars have an opportunity to find glory under the lights this weekend, the SCSN is including two bracket classes, four small-tire eight-mile classes, and two Jr. Dragster classes.

“Local racers are the life blood of any drag strip,” Roth said, “and by no means do we want to exclude them. The great thing about our Street Car Super Nationals events is that we combine the best of the big-name doorslammer drivers with the top grassroots racers in the country. You talk to the legends of this sport and many of them got their start in bracket racing at their hometown track. Fortunately for the drag racers in the St. Louis area, their hometown track is one of the best in the country!”
