All-Female Starting Line Crew Makes Maryland International Raceway History This Past Weekend

MECHANICSVILLE, MD – For the first time since hosting its first event in July of 1966; Maryland International Raceway ™ (MDIR) makes track history nearly 52 years later on Friday June 9, 2018, with its first-ever all-female starting line and waterbox officiating team during the International Drag Bike League™ (IDBL) Sport Nationals presented by M2 Shocks event.

Sisters; Christel Andy of Dahlgren, Virginia and Traci Andy also of Dahlgren, Virginia along with Jessica Leonard of Mechanicsville, Maryland took the reins during the Friday night testing and Gambler’s Race session leading up to the event that was completed on Saturday.

Royce Miller, the IRG COO and acting GM at Maryland International Raceway, stated, “This is not just a token all-female starting line crew for publicity. These ladies are good at their positions and get the job done.”

These three fine MDIR employees are just a small sample of many great women that work at MDIR in key areas including track officials, rescue staff, tower staff, gate staff, office staff and concessions.

More information on MDIR is available at www.RaceMDIR.com.
