O’FALLON, MO – The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) announced on Tuesday a partnership with the World Motorsports Breast Cancer Foundation (WMSBCF) for two races during the 2011 ADRL Tour.

The growing foundation will have a large presence at two upcoming 2011 events – the Ford Drive One Summer Drags VII at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park (July 15-16) and the Summit Racing Equipment Ohio Drags V at Summit Motorsports Park (Sept. 23-24) – with the strong possibility of increasing its visibility in future seasons.

“I feel like partnering with the ADRL can really help put us on another plane. Working with the ADRL, I feel like we’re going to be able to reach out to the world,” World Motorsports Breast Cancer Foundation President Dr. Tom Pollard said.

“We would really like to be associated with the ADRL going forward and we want to help grow the ADRL as well.”
Pollard, a former wrestling administrator on the United States Olympic Committee, formed the non-profit WMSBCF in 2008 as a way to inform and educate those in the motorsports industry about breast cancer.

The funds from the foundation go directly to clinics for the poor and uninsured who suffer from breast cancer.
Along with a detailed educational program that includes a variety of informative materials, Pollard has also created a new grant program with the hopes of raising a minimum of $4 million.

With that, the grant will give up to $10,000 to underprivileged and uninsured families who have a member suffering from breast cancer.

In previous years, Pollard and his team has attended car shows and various drag races to raise funds and increase awareness.
Working with the world’s premier eighth-mile drag racing league in the ADRL, Pollard hopes to reach an even bigger racing audience.

“We’re hoping the crowd and the teams will be very receptive. We will seek out donations and hand out information to anyone who is interested,” Pollard said. “We will have a booth at both races and being at an ADRL event will allow us to start to pull money into the grant program.

“With the amount of people that the ADRL draws to an event, we are thrilled to be able to reach such a large amount of people. It is going to be very beneficial for our foundation.”

The foundation expects to expand its presence with the ADRL in 2012 and the racing organization is looking forward to the burgeoning relationship.

“Dr. Tom Pollard and his foundation have done a remarkable job educating people on such a serious matter and it is important to us to help continue to create awareness and raise money for this life-changing foundation,” ADRL Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Brian Evans said.

“We are very excited about this partnership and hope it continues to open new doors for both of us.”
