Roush Yates Partners with Roy Hill and Phoenix Racing

Mooresville, NC – Roush Yates Engines is proud to announce a partnership with local drag racing icon Roy Hill and Phoenix Racing. Roy Hill and Phoenix Racing’s Ford Cobra Jet Mustangs and Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School cars will now feature powerful Roush Yates engines. The alliance will give Hill and Phoenix Racing better power and performance at the racetrack and allow Roush Yates’ successful drag racing program to reach more racers.

Roush Yates engines are well known in all series of racing, most notably the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, but they are fairly new to the drag racing world. Sandy Wilkins leads the drag racing program for Roush Yates and will be responsible for building powerful engines for Hill’s cars to race in the NHRA Super Stock division. Roy Hill and Phoenix Racing field three Cobra Jets sponsored by Coca-Cola, Alsco, Goodyear, zMax, and Ford. Hill’s cars have already qualified first and second for multiple races and he believes the new engines will make his team a strong contender for the 2011 NHRA Championship.

Roy Hill has had many successes as a driver, but in 1989 he turned his focus toward a driving school for future drag racers. Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School immerses students in drag racing, from fundamentals in driving to track operations. Roush Yates’ drag engines will complete the experience for Hill’s students by giving them a taste of what it’s like to race with maximum horsepower under the hood.

“Jack Roush and I go way back and he has always been willing to help me in my racing career,” said Hill. “I want to be number one wherever I go and I don’t know where else you can find better technology than Jack Roush and Doug Yates. Together we’ve already accomplished great things. I’m happy to be a part of Roush Yates and believe this is a great opportunity for myself and Phoenix Racing.”
