DEJORIA, BROWN LEAD TOYOTA IN DENVER NHRA QUALIFYING

DENVER, CO – Alexis DeJoria placed seventh in Funny Car, while Antron Brown was eighth in Top Fuel to lead Toyota LogoToyota in qualifying for Sunday’s NHRA Mile High Nationals at the Bandimere Speedway.

DeJoria’s Camry placed seventh in Friday’s first session and climbed into sixth in the second before eventually placing seventh on Saturday. She has now qualified in the top half of the field in eight of 14 races this season.

Cruz Pedregon qualified ninth this weekend, but in a good sign for Sunday, placed second in Saturday’s first session, which was the only afternoon session run in qualifying over the two days. Del Worsham placed 11th overall and third in Saturday’s opening session.

Tony Pedregon placed 12th, one spot ahead of Chad Head who qualified 13th on Saturday as the final Toyota Camry in the Funny Car field.

In Top Fuel, Brown placed eighth overall and will enter tomorrow’s Mile High Nationals in second-place in the point race. Shawn Langdon registered his best pass of the weekend in the final round on Saturday to jump up to 11th After struggling on Friday and being unable to get down the track cleanly, Richie Crampton recovered nicely on Saturday to place third in the first session. He’ll start eliminations from the 13th spot tomorrow.

Today’s qualifying can be seen tonight on ESPN2 beginning at 11:00 p.m., while Sunday’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series eliminations will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 9 p.m. (all times EDT).
