MIR Summer Schedule Jam Packed

Something to spice up every taste during July and August

MILLINGTON, TN – Summer has arrived and Memphis International Raceway (MIR) has a variety of events that MEMPHISsmrun the full spectrum of high power entertainment.

“We have a lot great events lined up this summer,” said MIR VP and GM Pam Kendrick. “We have races and runs; concerts and car shows lined up. There’s definitely something on our schedule for everyone.”

The summer season kicks off this weekend with the big money bracket race, the $25k Showdowns. Drivers will have the chance to get their share of a more than $100,000 total purse with five races in three days from Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28.

That isn’t all for the bracket racing set. The Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams will have five races in the months of July and August: July 18, 25 and 26 and August 8 and 9.

If bracket racing isn’t your style, MIR has three 5k runs at the track during the next couple of months. The first is the July 11 Foam Glow run a nighttime event filled with fun and glow in the dark color. Second is a new event, the Insane Inflatable 5k on July 25, where runners navigate around, through and over gigantic inflatable obstacles on their way to the finish line. Lastly is August 15th’s Color Buzz run another nighttime race full of fun, color and music.

But if you just want to kick back and enjoy some of the most entertaining drag racing around MIR has three big events on top sure to thrill every fan.

First the MIR’s annual HEMI holiday weekend, the Mega Mopar Action Series on July 31-August 1. Chrysler classics and Dodge muscle will be on display in the professionally judged car show with additional trophy and bracket racing.

Next the PDRA is returning August 21-22 and bringing its exciting brand of eighth-mile Pro Mod racing with it. And finally, it’s Ford’s turn in the spotlight at the August 28-29 Throttle Fest powered by Fun Ford Series with FocusFest. The judged car show is open to all Ford cars, trucks and SUVs. There are trophy classes and bracket racing for Blue Oval racing fans as well as an ever-growing list of bands that will play as a part of the motorcycle-powered antics at Throttle Fest, including the platinum selling band Jackyl headlining Saturday’s show.
