White Safety Equipment Committed to PDRA Racer Safety in 2015

PITTSBORO, NC – There is nothing more important to competitive racers than safety. Not a new car, not massive PDRA logoamounts of horsepower, not even winning races and championships. Without an environment that is as safe as humanly possible nothing else matters.

Carl White understands this, and he lives it every day. A longtime racer and provider of safety equipment, White, through White Safety Equipment, is committed to using his experience and knowledge to make well-designed, quality safety equipment available to racers.

“In motorsports, safety is everything, period,” White said. “If you get hurt you can’t work and make a living. This goes for the sportsman racers as well as the professionals. There is no substitute for top quality safety equipment – second best just isn’t going to cut it.”

White Safety Equipment’s mission statement reflects company founder Carl White’s dedicated approach to racer safety and well-being.

“Racing is a highly enjoyable sport and whether you’ve chosen it as a career, every weekend event or an occasional adrenaline-filled pastime, White Safety Equipment strives to minimize the associated dangers to enable your safe return home to your family and friends.”

This season, as it did last year, White Safety Equipment will be paying contingency to racers for parachutes and firesuits, depending on class.

“Last season we paid contingency money to winners and runners-up using our parachutes in all classes except for Junior Dragster,” White said. “For the Junior Dragster racers we posted contingency for firesuits. We are really happy to be bringing our contingency programs to PDRA once again in 2015.

“To qualify for our parachute contingency program, racers must buy and use the product and run our decals,” said White. “Now if they buy a new car and it already has one of our chutes attached, they still are eligible for contingency because in many cases chassis builders will have already installed one on the car.”

White is exceptionally qualified to provide these products and services to the racing community, having been a racer since he was in his teens and in the safety equipment business for over two decades.

“I was co-owner of another company before my partner bought me out,” he said. “After I left, racers kept calling me and urging me to get back into the business. At first I didn’t intend to do that, but the demand was there and I finally decided it was too important not to do it.”

In 2012 White started White Safety Equipment in Choctaw, Oklahoma, and has been going strong ever since. He is excited about working with the PDRA again this season, having been impressed by the success and growth experienced by the organization in just one year.

“I think the PDRA has done extremely well heading into their second year,” White said. “Normally any new venture has to take a trial and error approach when it comes to getting off the ground, and as far as I can see the owners have done an excellent job. They are all racers and businessmen and they have a lot of experience in both areas, which made the challenging process of starting a new sanctioning body go relatively well.”

Underscoring his commitment to the PDRA and its racers, White said: “I’m planning to be at all of the PDRA events this season to offer racer support. We have a large trailer that we will use to take a wide range of products to each race, and as a service to racers I’ll be there to answer product questions as well as address any safety concerns that might come up. We are committed to providing racers with the best possible safety equipment and one-on-one customer service. We have deep roots in the racing industry and look forward to providing competitors with high-quality products and support.”

“We are excited and privileged to have Carl White and White Safety Equipment with us again in 2015,” said PDRA Race Director Bob Harris. “Their quality products and dedication to racer safety are unmatched in the racing industry. We appreciate their involvement as contingency sponsors as well as everything they do to make the sport of drag racing safer.”
