MILLION DOLLAR RACE DRAG RACE – FRIDAY RESULTS

Once again, Friday dawned with clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine for Day 2 of the CARS Protection Plus Million Dollar Race. With new Scott Richardsonentries coming in today and with only one time trial provided all entrants, eliminations didn’t start until 1:30, which meant another long day. Due to the amount of entries, buybacks were again eliminated for today.

At the round of eight cars left, the remaining were paired with the first set up being Bo Boatner and Chris Crosby with Boatner taking the win. Scotty Richardson and Mitchell Dyer in his Camaro battled with the door car coming up on the losing end. Next up was Bruce Mouat and his roadster against Joe Gary’s dragster with the roadster taking the win. Don Cox’s ’55 Chevy faced off with Allen Wickell and his dragster who turned the red light to move the ’55 into the semifinal round.

For the semifinals, Cox’s ’55 and Mouat’s roadster faced off assuring us a door car; of sorts; in the final round. And “of sorts” is exactly how it went down as Cox turned on the red bulb handing the win to Mouat who ran it out to a .008 package. Richardson and Boatner faced off and the former NHRA world champion and many time big buck bracket race winner Richardson drove his way into yet another final round.

And with a fourteen-thousandths reaction time coupled with a 4.335 on a 4.33 dial, Richardson added another win to his resume while Mouat came up short in the reaction time department with an .029. Richardson said, “This Montgomery Motorsports Park crew did a great job keeping the track in shape even with these cold temperatures.”

At the end of the night, the top 32 points finishers from this past year’s Mini-Millions Races were paired up with $10,000 on the line for the winner with Peeps Pennington taking home the big check to Texas.

And at the midnight hour, Day 2 came to a close with all looking forward to the main event, the Million Dollar Race on Saturday.
