Mike Knowles Takes First Career Pro Mod Win at AAA Midwest Nationals

Madison, IL – Mike Knowles’ Blown Money team is one of the highest profiled teams on the NHRA Pro Mod circuit. Their dedication to Mike Knowles - St Louis excellence is evident to anyone who gets just a quick glimpse of their operation but, for many a year the winner’s circle at an NHRA event has evaded them. That was until this past weekend.

Knowles advance to the finals of the NHRA Pro Mod class at the AAA Insurance Midwest nationals held at Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Louis, Mo. from the 14th qualifying position. He was able to defeat Steven Whiteley in round one, followed by a win over Kevin Fiscus in round two, and then Todd Tutterow in the semi-finals.

As if heading into only your second career wasn’t drama enough; Knowles had to stop his wife and children from catching their flight home to ensure they were there for the finals.”We had to quickly cancel Kim and the boys’ flight and reschedule them one to make sure they were there for the finals. Having them there means everything,” said Knowles.

In the final Knowles won his first career NHRA Wally when he defeated multi-time alcohol funny car champion and Pro Mod event winner, Von Smith. Even though Smith posting a quicker elapsed time of 5.929 to Knowles’ slightly slower elapsed time of 5.934 Knowles got the win light because of his much quicker starting line reaction time.

“This is incredible! We’ve waited a long time for this and I am so happy that my boys, Zach and Bryson, and my wife, Kim, were able to be here. I can’t tell you how good this feels or how happy I am for my crew. These guys put their all into this team. Tim (McAmis), Billy (Rice), Bart (Sunn), and Brandon (Booher). Thank you! This is something,” said an elated Mike Knowles.

Next up for the Blown Money team is the NHRA Pro Modified Season Finale’ at the NHRA Toyota Nationals in Las Vegas on Halloween weekend.
