Chevrolet Performance Solidifies Three More Years of Major Sponsorship With NMCA

Indianapolis, IN –  A longtime supporter of the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals, Chevrolet Performance confirmed its commitment to grassroots competition by signing a new 3-year deal continuing as a major sponsor with the national event series dedicated to Detroit Iron.

“We’re proud to have Chevrolet Performance as a major sponsor and contingency supporter of our series”, said Steve Wolcott, President & CEO of NMCA. “Chevrolet Performance has long supported our dedication to homegrown performance, and this new agreement cements that backing for years to come.”

In addition to its major sponsorship of NMCA through 2026, Chevrolet Performance continues as presenting sponsor of several core classes including LME Street King, Proform Rumble, and all-new Scoggin Dickey Street Warrior 10.10. Chevrolet Performance also retains its position as title sponsor of the COPO Camaro Shootout in Norwalk, Ohio, the LSX Shootout in Madison, Illinois, and presenting sponsor of the NMCA World Finals in Indianapolis.

Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals Celebrates Detroit Iron at Six Events In 2024

Santa Ana, CA – Fans of smoking tires, rumbling muscle cars, and earth-shaking Xtreme Pro Mods can start planning for another season of exciting action, as the Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals reveals its 2024 schedule, which features a fresh start, a new class, and a return to a historic racetrack.

“Having just wrapped another great season in Indy, we already can’t wait to kick off our 2024 schedule in Rockingham next April,” Rollie Miller, General Manager & National Event Director at NMCA, said. “We’re excited to debut our new Street Warrior 10.10 class at the season opener alongside our full roster of heads-up and index classes.”

The Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals embarks on its 2024 campaign at Rockingham Dragway in early April with the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals. In early May the series heads towards the St. Louis Arch for the NMRA/NMCA Race for the Rings at World Wide Technology Raceway. Later that same month, NMCA returns to the historic and picturesque Beech Bend Raceway Park for its Muscle Car Mayhem event. In July the series heads north as the NMRA/NMCA Power Festival returns to US 131 Motorsports Park. NMCA heads back to Summit Motorsports Park for the All-American Nationals in late August and then closes out the 2024 season at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park for the World Street Finals late September.

22nd Annual Red Line Synthetic Oil NMCA World Finals Presented by Chevrolet Performance

Indianapolis, ON – The Red Line Synthetic Oil NMCA Drag Racing Series wrapped up a successful 2023 campaign with the crowning of world champions during the 22nd annual NMCA World Street Finals presented by Chevrolet Performance. Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park has been the site of many historic drag racing moments, and that now includes both the event winners and series champions that were crowned on Sunday evening.

Ty Tutterow, of Mocksville, N.C. has been in command of the championship battle in VP Racing Lubricants Pro Mod for most of the season and he put a tidy bow on his season by winning his third event. Tutterow, a winner in Orlando and Norwalk, stopped Mike DiDomenico, Chagrin Falls, Ohio, 3.661 to a slowing 5.568. Tutterow, the son of Pro Mod legend Todd Tutterow, defeated Bob Glenn, Ed Marx, and low qualifier David Monday on his way to the final round.

In Holley EFI Factory Super Car A.J. Berge of Bayshore, N.Y., drove his ’21 Dodge Challenger to a 7.680 in the final round to stop Jonathan Allegrucci, Scott Township, Pa., who trailed with a 7.732 in his Cobra Jet Mustang. In addition to the FSC purse, Berge takes home an addition $10,000 thanks to the Dodge bonus! Allegrucci may have lost the final, but he scored enough points to pass Tony Scott for the season championship. The Factory Super Car class features a modern twist on classic muscle cars with intense competition between supercharged Chevy, Dodge, and Ford entries.

Race Wrap — Mickey Thompson NMCA All-American Nationals

Norwalk, OH – When rain fell with force and flooded the Summit Motorsports Park grounds in Norwalk, Ohio, the day before the 22nd Annual Mickey Thompson NMCA All-American Nationals presented by Sick the Mag, August 25-27, the panic was palpable.

Racers and race fans wondered whether this second-to-last event on the series’ annual tour might be canceled, but officials from the series and the track put their heads together and plotted a path forward.

Because of their extreme effort, racers from across the country pulled into America’s Racetrack and served up some of the most compelling competition thus far during the 2023 season.

“After all of the adversity our teams faced at the beginning of the week, it was gratifying to see the first pair of cars stage on our starting line,” said Evan Bader, Summit Motorsports Park Track Manager. “Our teams wanted, more than anything, to be able to produce this event for the racers, despite the downpours we had the day before, and pass after pass, we were grateful we were able to do that.”

Street Warrior 10.10 Joins the NMCA Battle at 2024 Season Opener in Rockingham

Santa Ana, CA – Born of technology and ingenuity, fast street cars are all the rage in modern drag racing. Beginning with its first event of the 2024 season, NMCA provides a new class for low-10-second street/strip machines to battle on the quarter-mile — Scoggin Dickey Parts Center Street Warrior 10.10 presented by Chevrolet Performance.

“We’ve seen huge growth among our street-car classes in both the NMCA and NMRA series,” said Rollie Miller, General Manager & National Event Director of NMCA. “Street Warrior 10.10 will open the door for really quick, GM-powered street cars to compete on the national stage and earn payout and pro level contingency money while competing for a championship.”

Debuting at Rockingham Dragway on April 11-14, 2024 as part of the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals, Scoggin Dickey Parts Center Street Warrior 10.10 presented by Chevrolet Performance will showcase street-legal (including current registration and valid insurance) rides capable of running single-digit elapsed time but competing with a single index. Run with a heads-up start on a .400 Pro Tree and running the full quarter mile, Street Warrior 10.10 competitors will be randomly paired via chip draw during eliminations.

Race Wrap | TorqStorm Superchargers NMRA/NMCA Power Festival

Martin, MI – As racers reach the middle of the race season, it would be understandable if they were worn out. Abundant attention, exhaustive effort, and staying alert through adversity are relentlessly required, but rather than throwing in the towel, racers are throwing everything they have at their programs, and they proved that at the TorqStorm Superchargers NMRA/NMCA Power Festival presented by Paul’s High Performance, July 20-23 at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan.

There were personal bests and personal victories, as well as meaningful moments and memories made at this event. Along the way, racers left their mark on the facility known as the Fastest Track in Michigan. This story focuses on NMCA racers, while a separate story focuses on NMRA racers.

“NMCA competition is always intense and incredible as racers continue to push their combinations and themselves to peak performance levels,” said Rollie Miller, NMCA General Manager and National Event Director. “We witnessed wonderful results at this event, and suspense is high as we head into the last two NMCA events of the year where championships will be cemented.”

NMCA Race Wrap | NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Muscle Car Drag Racing

MADISON, IL – Many spellbinding moments have been in the spotlight at the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Muscle Car Drag Racing over the years. The storied event has seen racers from both series overcome obstacles and put down personal bests, and they have endeared and excited everyone in the process.

This year’s event, the 18th Annual NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Muscle Car Drag Racing, was held May 5-7, 2023 at World Wide Technology Raceway in Illinois, and it will go down in history as one of the most action-packed and astonishing.

Among the special features was the Testo Shootouts, a new format for the runoff portion of the event that allowed points leaders to race against qualifying leaders for a chance to earn cash and the coveted Nitto Tire Diamond Tree Rings. If the points leader was also the qualifying leader, the points leader then raced the number two qualifier.

BIGFOOT #1, the Monster Truck that started it all for owner Bob Chandler, as well as BIGFOOT #8, capture attention at events across the country, and fans were certainly fascinated by both of them at this event.

NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals, NMCA Race Report

Rockingham, NC – Returning to Rockingham Dragway in scenic North Carolina, the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals Presented by MAHLE Motorsport over the weekend of April 14-16, 2023 was full of dramatic ups and downs over three days of exciting racing but ultimately, winners were celebrated in style and presented with their hard-earned Victor awards.

From the on-track action to the special add-ons such as the Bigfoot monster truck hanging out for cool fan photo ops, wild flame-throwing jet dragster exhibition runs by Dawn Perdue and Larry Aldrich, the Top of the Rock Fan Appreciation Party hosted by Clarence Barnes and Chris the Car Guy, a massive car show with a diverse variety of American muscle spanning every production decade, vendor midway, there was truly something for everyone to enjoy.

Doorslammer drag racing’s quickest and fastest heavy hitters came to play in VP Racing Lubricants Xtreme Pro Mod. Driving Tyler Jenkins’s 1957 Buick, Ty Tutterow dominated the field in qualifying and went 3.647 at 205.48 mph to set the pace. He powered his way into the final round against Craig Sullivan and his “El Mero Mero” 1949 Mercury where it was a battle of the vintage blower cars showcasing traditional old-school Pro Mod racing at its finest. Both men left the tree together and went straight down Broadway, but Sullivan, who had qualified third, pulled off an upset with a 3.675 at 208.72 mph pass to not only get the win but also to clock the fastest speed of the weekend.

Race Wrap | NMCA Scoggin Dickey Muscle Car Mayhem

Orland, FL – With hard launches, huge wheelies, and head-to-head racing, competitors settled right into the new home of the Scoggin Dickey Parts Center NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem presented by Holbrook Racing Engines, March 17-19, 2023 at Orlando Speed World Dragway in Florida.

They thrilled at every turn as they took aim at the NMCA Winner’s Circle at this first of six events on this year’s Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals tour, and along the way, they confirmed their commitment and courage.

“We saw some amazing racing at our highly anticipated NMCA season opener at Orlando Speed World Dragway,” said Rollie Miller, NMCA General Manager and National Event Director. “On the well-prepped national stage, racers showed us what we can expect to see on this year’s chase to the championships, and we are in for a wild ride.”

Race after race, VP Racing Lubricants Xtreme Pro Mod competitors prove that they want more and are willing to work for it, and Ty Tutterow and Robert Abbott were certainly among them at this event. Tutterow, in his 1957 Buick-bodied Pro Mod, hammered the tree with an .014 and then hauled to a 3.634 to take a trip to the winner’s circle over Abbott, who was right there with a 3.635 in his Camaro-bodied hot rod.
