NHRA WINS INNOVATION OF THE YEAR AWARD AT PACNET STAR AWARDS

INDIANAPOLIS – NHRA was recently awarded with the “Innovation of the Year” at the PACnet Annual Star Awards in Los Angeles following the creation of its new Team Ticket & Credential Ordering Portal. The PACnet Annual Star Awards honors top performers within the Paciolan community, with NHRA beating out an impressive list of competitors in the category for its new online ticketing page.

NHRA won out over the University of Texas, Virginia Tech and the Texas Performing Arts in the category, showcasing a new innovation for race teams, tracks and partners by creating an Eloqua landing page for ticket requests that go directly to the ticket office. The new ticketing landing page for each team allows drivers and race teams the ability to order tickets for sponsors, friends, family and special guests in real-time, giving them instant access for immediate requests.

It has enhanced the ticket ordering process, with the NHRA ticketing team working with all parties to develop a streamlined way for partners, race teams and sponsors to order tickets, making for a much faster and more efficient process. Each race also has a unique link to purchase tickets for the unique hospitality experiences offered by teams, as well as race tickets.

WILKERSON, B. TORRENCE AND ENDERS RACE TO PROVISIONAL NO. 1 SPOTS AT LUCAS OIL NHRA WINTERNATIONALS

Friday Pro Qualifying Results at end of Article

POMONA, CA – Funny Car rookie Daniel Wilkerson put himself in position for his first career No. 1 qualifier on Friday, racing to the provisional top spot at the 64th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip.

Billy Torrence (Top Fuel) and Erica Enders (Pro Stock) are also the provisional No. 1 qualifiers at the second of 20 races during the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

In a full-time ride for the first time in his career, Daniel Wilkerson made the most of his opportunity on Friday, taking the top spot with a 4.014 at 314.31 in his 11,000-horsepower Scag Power Equipment Ford Mustang. That puts Wilkerson in line for his first career top qualifier, which would be a huge moment in his career. He stepped into the driver role this year, with his father, Funny Car veteran Tim Wilkerson, calling the shots as crew chief. On Friday, it worked out wonderfully for the father-son duo.

“It was a little squirrely but I got it to the end,” said Wilkerson, who will be competing for NHRA Rookie of the Year honors this year. “It got a little loose coming out of the middle of the track and I was almost yelling at myself steering the car. But it worked out and I was happy with it. All of this, it almost hasn’t set in yet, but it’s been a lot of fun so far.”

TOP FUEL’S SHAWN LANDGON LOOKS TO KEEP ROLLING AT LUCAS OIL NHRA WINTERNATIONALS AFTER SNAPPING DRY SPELL

POMONA, CA – In picking up his first win in nearly four years to open the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season, Shawn Langdon also picked up a handful of significant milestones along the way.

Along with the first Gatornationals win for the former Top Fuel world champ, Langdon also helped Kalitta Motorsports pick up its first-ever double-up in the nitro categories, handing Brian Husen a victory in his first race since being name crew chief before the season. It also gave Langdon his first victory at a season-opening race since 2015, summing up the fact that things couldn’t have gone much better for the veteran.

That 2015 season-opening victory came in Pomona, where Langdon will be this weekend for the 64th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at In-N-Out Pomona Dragstrip. It’s still a very special race for the Mira Loma, Calif. native, especially since he’ll have the chance to continue his strong start at the second race of the 2024 season in his 11,000-horsepower Kalitta Air Careers Toyota dragster.
