Statement from Larry Morgan and Larry Morgan Racing

NEWARK, OH – The following is a statement from NHRA Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan on the state of his Larry Larry Morgan -Morgan Racing team for the 2016 season:

We are currently involved in securing additional sponsorship so we can continue our efforts in being a viable contender in Pro Stock. We were notified Feb. 3 by our 2015 major sponsor that they would not be able to support us like they had previously, so we have had to plan a different strategy at LMR for 2016.

Along with securing additional sponsorship for our race team, our other objective is to concentrate on our custom CNC machine shop.

I have not missed a Pomona race since 1984 and definitely want to continue that streak. We went to three finals last year and won two races, and I believe, “It’s not the size of the man in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the man.” I know I still have one good fight left in me, so don’t count me out!

Larry Morgan’s driving prowess not enough to power FireAde Chevy to Pomona win

POMONA, CA – FireAde Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan brought down the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Larry Morgan - Pomona, SundaySeries with a bang, ripping off a .004-second reaction time against two-time champion Erica Enders at the Auto Club NHRA Finals on Sunday at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, but that wasn’t enough to hold off the charge of the 2015 Pro Stock champion, as Morgan fell in the second round.

“I feel good that I still have it,” Morgan said. “We just didn’t run well today. Something’s wrong with the car in low gear, accelerating real hard. It just won’t accelerate like we need it to down low. I don’t know what it is.

She’s looked at the computer and all the data and has made some great suggestions. She’s a smart lady — well, except for marrying me! — and she’s out here to work. I’m glad she’s in our corner.”

I can’t say enough for Ron Thames and FireAde and all the great people at Gray Motorsports and all my guys, too. Without them all, I couldn’t have done any of it. I’ve had a hell of a year.”

LAS VEGAS – Larry Morgan, driver of the FireAde Racing Chevrolet Camaro, lost in the first round of eliminations at Larry Morgan - Vegas, Sundaythe NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The circumstances were enough to make a veteran drag racer shake his head. “We broke a water line and had water under the right tire,” Morgan said. “I let the clutch out and it just drove to the right, it spun. I would have been good if it wasn’t for that. I was -.001 but that could have had a lot to do with the tire spinning. It is what it is and there’s nothing we can do about it.

NHRA Pro Stock is a tough game. It takes a lot of money, a lot of horsepower, and most importantly a lot of talent. Then you have to get all those things working together.
