SONOMA, CA – MAVTV/Protect The Harvest/Lucas Oil rider Anthony Vanetti is learning the hard way how difficult Anthony Vanetti - Sonomathe Pro Stock Motorcycle class can be.

Vanetti failed to qualify for the NHRA Sonoma Nationals on Saturday at Sonoma Raceway, getting bumped out of the top 16 in the final qualifying session. He’ll have to wait until the race in Charlotte to make his official race debut.

“I’m definitely learning more with each lap,” Vanetti said. “I’m getting more comfortable with the bike, although it didn’t show in Q4. We’ve just got to move on to the next one, stay positive, and learn from it. I’ve got to forget about what happened because I don’t want to dwell on that, for sure.”

Arana completes Coast Guard boot camp, begins full-time service

MILLTOWN, IN – Past ProtectTheHarvest.com Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Adam Arana recently graduated from the Adam Arana - Coast GuardUnited States Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, N.J., and will begin his full-time service later this week.

Seaman Apprentice (E-2) Arana, 23, will serve on the USCGC Cheyenne, a river-buoy tender, based in St. Louis. He is due to report there March 6.

“Boot camp was intense but the experience was worth it,” Arana said. “The days were long, very long, for about a month. I was averaging four hours of sleep and waking up at 5-5:30 in the morning — and getting woken up by a whistle. Getting woken up by a whistle is the worst way to get woken up.

“They yelled at all times and we had to yell at all times. There is no talking normal to them. Every time you talk, it was yelling. And it wasn’t talking loudly: They would watch your face, and if they didn’t see veins popping out of your neck and you straining every single muscle in your face, you weren’t talking to them loud enough. I lost my voice.”

Pomona success leaves Arana satisfied for his next journey

POMONA, CA – ProtectTheHarvest.com Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana rode brilliantly during the Auto Club NHRA Finals on Sunday Adam Aranaat Auto Club Raceway in what is his last race before joining the United States Coast Guard.

With an almost perfect light, .004, against Jerry Savoie in round one of eliminations, Arana advanced with a 6.889-second pass at 195.51 mph compared to Savoie’s 6.853 at 194.80.

Meeting Eddie Krawiec for the fifth time in the second round this season, Arana left the line with a .020-second reaction time compared to the Harley rider’s .058 light. Unfortunately, Arana’s slight lead wasn’t enough to hold off Krawiec at the line by just a fraction.

“I didn’t do too bad on the Christmas Tree; I had a .004 and a .020,” Arana said. “The second round, if I would’ve raced anyone but Eddie I would’ve won, and that stinks. It’s hard to race those Harleys; they’re fast.

Arana’s gamble comes up just short at The Strip

LAS VEGAS – With a tight race from start to finish, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana dropped a first-round loss during the NHRA Toyota Adam Arana - NorwalkNationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

With a .087 reaction time compared to No. 6 Katie Sullivan’s .037, Arana tried his best to power his ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Buell back for the win. However, Sullivan’s 6.968-second pass at 191.02 mph was enough to hold off Arana’s 7.015 at 191.65 mph.

“We just messed up,” Arana said. “We had a couple of broken discs in our clutch, and the changes that we made were in the wrong direction.

“I slipped so bad, it’s ridiculous how much the clutch slipped. When that happens you’re not putting any power down to the ground, so you can’t drive. I should have been four-hundredths quicker than I was.
