“All of Bruton’s (Smith) tracks are impressive but ZMax is one of my favorites,” stated Knowles. “All of his tracks have that attention to detail. Not just from the fans side or the racers side, it’s everything, ever where. Oh’ and I also like this track because I made it to my first final thee a few years back,” added Knowles.

It was 2012 when Knowles made an impressive charge to the finals by defeating Shannon Jenkins, Donald Martin, and Mike Castellana before ultimately falling to Now Top Fuel Driver, Leah Pruett. In 2013 the Blown Money team qualified well but failed to make it out of the first round. Knowles Ready for Return to NHRA Competition at INDY

Grand Junction, Co – It’s no secret that Pro Modified Racer, Mike Knowles, has been a HUGE supporter of the NHRA Pro Modified Mike Knowles by Steven Wilsonseries for many years but, it’s also no secret that Mike is a man that speaks his mind. In recent months Mike has been very vocal of his displeasure with the pre entry list process for the Pro Modified class but because of his love for the sport and the class Knowles has decided to make a return to NHRA completion at INDY.

“We recently went to an 1/8th mile PDRA event in Tulsa with the expectation of using that time as testing for INDY but, I’ll tell you once you’re at an event like that you get caught up in the event. There are so many great cars, good people and an amount of fans like I’ve never seen before. After we ran some real good numbers in qualifying we decided to back off the testing and go after winning the race. My guys had their stuff together and we ran some high 3.80’s and went for it but, we ended up losing in the semi finals to Kevin Rivenbark  by less than a hundredth. That’s a very strong car that, that in my opinion, SHOULD be at INDY. No matter what, we’ll be there loaded for whatever it takes,” stated Mike Knowles.

Knowles Happy to be Headed To “A Business Man’s Track” for the 14th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals

Grand Junction, CO – After a less than pleasing experience on the last two stops of the NHRA Pro Modified Tour, in Englishtown, NJ Mike Knowles - Photo by Paul Murfand Atlanta, GA, Mike Knowles is happy to be headed to what he considers one of the premier venues in drag racing; Bristol Dragway, better known as “Thunder Valley”!

The Bruton Smith owned Bristol Dragway will host the fifth stop of the ten race NHRA Pro Modified series and knowing that already has Mike Knowles in a better mood. “Atlanta was a big disappointment. It was the first time the Pro Mods had been there in a few years and for being a national event facility I wasn’t pleased with the conditions at all. Then Englishtown was a real let down. So, to say I’m happy to be going to a “Business Man’s Track” would be an understatement,” said Knowles.

Knowles Hoping for a Change of Luck at the 45th annual NHRA SummerNationals Presented by POWEROCKS

Grand Junction, CO – An .052 light with a 5.915 should win many Pro Mod Drag Races but, with the luck Mike Knowles has been Mike Knowles - Johnny Tolisano Photohaving this season it just wasn’t the case at the last RPM event in Atlanta.

“We’re right there. Sometimes, in this sport, you can beat your head for years and then you catch a break and everything just works. We can run with just about anyone out there but, we can’t catch that break,” said team owner/driver Mike Knowles.

Knowles’ Colorado based team will make the long trek east to Englishtown, NJ for the 45th annual SummerNationals presented by Powerocks. This weekend looking for that break that gets them on a roll.

“I guess it’s like any sport. You can really get inside your head and it causes you to get tight and push too hard. It’s the same with Drag Racing. There are so many variables that you can second guess yourself, check everything 10 times, and miss some small detail just once and then that it bites you. There’s just so much that goes on before during and after a run. We’ve got all the right tools for the job we just need to make our own luck and put our name on it,” said car chief, Bill Rice.

Atlanta hasn’t been a friendly place to Mike Knowles and his “Blown Money” team. The team has failed to qualify for the last two Pro Mod events held there (2010 and 2011) but, with recent performance gains Knowles is confident this year will be different. “We definitely need to get the monkey off our back and this would be a great place for us to do it. This track has never been good to us. Lately we’ve been making gains with our program and we seem to be ready to crest the hill. It’s always tough running with this group of racers but I ‘m feeling pretty good about this race,” said team owner/driver, Mike Knowles.
