Pre-Race Testing has Pro Mod Drivers Danny Rowe and Steve Matusek Excited for NHRA U.S. Nationals

BROWNSBURG, IN – Amidst one of the most competitive seasons in NHRA J&A Pro Mod Series history, Danny Rowe and teammate Steve Matusek roll into the seventh race on the 10-race Pro Mod tour, the 62nd annual Chevrolet Performance NHRA U.S. Nationals. The Danny Rowe Racing drivers spent three days testing this week in preparation for the prestigious Labor Day event.

“We look forward to this race all year, every year,” says Rowe, who enters the weekend sitting ninth in NHRA Pro Mod points standings. “The U.S. Nationals is the biggest drag race on planet Earth. You can’t help but get excited when you pull into the gates at Indy. The intensity ratchets up for everyone – drivers, crew chiefs, and the crew members.”

After nearly two months away from the racetrack, the Agave Underground team decided to kick off race week with a rigorous test session at Gateway Motorsports Park.

Rowe & Matusek Expecting Fireworks at Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals

NORWALK, OH – Coming off yet another strong outing during the Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, Agave Underground Danny Rowe RacingTequila Pro Mod drivers Danny Rowe and Steve Matusek are ready to make some noise this weekend at fan-friendly Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

“This is as wound up as we’ve been prior to a race,” says Matusek, who earned his career-first NHRA Pro Mod Final round appearance two weeks ago at Bristol Dragway. “I’ve been saying it a lot lately and it’s not meant to discount anyone else’s program, but I truly believe that Danny and I would have the best cars on the property right now anywhere we unloaded them. Jimmy [Rector, crew chief] and this crew are second to none and they’ve got a handle on these Agave Underground hot rods – there’s no way around it. We’re ready to get after it; I had a taste there in Bristol with our trip to the final, but we want to put a bow on it this time around.”

Steve Matusek Takes Agave Underground Camaro to Career First Pro Mod Final

LENEXA, KS – While no stranger to the winner’s circle in sportsman racing’s upper echelons, Steve Matusek – driver of the Agave Steve MatusekUnderground Tequila NHRA Pro Mod Camaro and co-founder and president of Aeromotive, Inc. – had a landmark weekend at the recently completed NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series event in Bristol, Tennessee.

After qualifying 7th amongst a ferocious 16-car field with a 5.992-second, 241.15mph pass, Matusek dispatched all three of the series’ top points earners – Rickie Smith, Mike Castellana and Mike Janis – en route to a final round matchup with fellow first-time finalist Pete Farber.

Rowe & Matusek Poised to Make Noise in Thunder Valley

BRISTOL, TN – Coming off their first collective rough weekend at the drag strip in 2014 – a pair of first round exits at the recently Steve Matusekcompleted NHRA Summernationals – Danny Rowe and Steve Matusek, drivers of the menacing flat-black Agave Underground Tequila Pro Mod Camaros, are bound and determined to make something happen at Bristol Dragway.

Perennial frontrunners early in 2014, the Pro Mod tag-team heads into the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals fourth and seventh in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series points standings, respectively, and know that going rounds this Sunday will make a run at the championship much more realistic come October.

“First and foremost, Thunder Valley is one of my absolute favorite places to race,” says Rowe, checking in from the pits of the scenic, picturesque Bristol Dragway. “We look forward to our trip here every season. It’s a running joke on our team that I enjoy taking a look around at the stands and scenery when I pull out onto the race track, but it’s hard not to when you’re racing at a place as pretty as this.

Rowe & Matusek Looking to Handle Unfinished Business at NHRA Summernationals

ENGLISHTOWN, NJ – Danny Rowe and the Agave Underground Tequila Pro Mod team have been anticipating their return to Old Steve MatusekBridge Township Raceway Park for the NHRA Summernationals since they left the fabled facility exactly one year ago.

After qualifying number one amongst a who’s who of Pro Mod contenders, Rowe and wife, Val, caught an early flight home to attend the high school graduation of their youngest daughter, Cassidy. As hard as it was to leave the quickest and fastest car on the property in the trailer on race day, it was a decision that Rowe doesn’t regret.

“That was definitely a tough one,” says Rowe, “but I wouldn’t change it. Cassidy is the youngest of our three girls and I’m not even thinking about missing her graduation day. We knew we’d have another chance at Englishtown; we knew we’d have another chance to qualify number one and another chance to try and win the Summernationals. And, matter of fact, that next chance comes this weekend.

Rowe & Matusek Solidify Frontrunner Status in Atlanta

COMMERCE, GA – Following the drama-filled Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals there’s no shortage of Steve Matusekstorylines, but for Danny Rowe and Steve Matusek, drivers of the popular Agave Underground Pro Mod Camaros, the primary takeaway is simple: this NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series is going to be a dog fight from start to finish.

After qualifying 4th and 11th with 5.872-second, 247.29mph and 5.937-second, 246.44mph passes, respectively, Rowe and Matusek embarked on their march toward the money round. Rowe & Matusek Looking to Seal the Deal at NHRA Southern Nationals

COMMERCE, GA – Danny Rowe and Steve Matusek don’t have the same kind of history at Atlanta Dragway – host of this weekend’s 34th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals – that they do at many of the other stops on the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series tour. Venues like those in Houston, St. Louis, Englishtown and others offer both drivers a plethora of good memories and celebrated times that they simply haven’t had as many opportunities to create in Atlanta, which Pro Mods return to for the first time since 2011, but that’s something the Agave Underground Tequila drivers are looking to change.

“We’re not completely unfamiliar with Atlanta Dragway, but it’s been a few years since we’ve raced there,” says Rowe. “We’re excited to be in this market, though, and put on a show for these Southeastern race fans that are passionate about Pro Mod drag racing. Not to mention, this is about as close as it gets to a hometown race for Jimmy [Rector, crew chief], and I know he’s excited to be racing less than a couple hours from the shop outside Chattanooga.”

Rowe & Matusek Score Semifinal Round Finishes; Leave Houston 4th and 5th in Championship Points

BAYTOWN, TX – Though an opportunity to put both Agave Underground Tequila Pro Mods in the final round of the NHRA Spring Nationals was well within reach for team drivers Danny Rowe and Steve Matusek, it simply wasn’t meant to be.

Rowe and Matusek, both consummate professionals and veteran Pro Mod drivers, suffered uncharacteristic mishaps in the semifinal round of competition – Rowe falling to Mike Castellana by way of holeshot and Matusek, still getting his bearings in a supercharged Pro Mod versus the twin-turbocharged car he’s driven for the past several years, left before the tree was activated in a matchup with eventual event winner Mike Janis.

Rowe & Matusek Feeling the Momentum Headed into NHRA Spring Nationals

BAYTOWN, TX – For Danny Rowe and Steve Matusek, drivers of the popular Agave Underground Tequila Pro Mod Camaros, it Danny Roweseems like forever since the last time they took to the quarter-mile, but that’s not the only reason they’re so excited about this weekend’s O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals at Houston’s Royal Purple Raceway.

Rowe and Matusek’s combined enthusiasm stems from the team’s track record at Royal Purple Raceway – namely Rowe’s two victories and three final round appearances over the course of the last four seasons.

ROWE & MATUSEK BATTLE IT OUT AT NHRA PRO MOD SEASON OPENER

GAINESVILLE, FL – Had Danny Rowe and Steve Matusek’s paths crossed a little later in eliminations it could have been argued Danny Rowethat the Agave Underground Tequila Pro Mod team had a perfect weekend, but it’s difficult to view the 45th annual Amalie Motor Oils NHRA Gatornationals as anything less.

After qualifying number one and eight, respectively, amongst the quickest field in the history of the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series with Rowe’s 5.858-second, 250.33mph effort and Matusek’s 5.904-second, 246.26mph blast, the Pro Mod tag team headed into Sunday morning’s elimination rounds paired up with two nitrous oxide frontrunners in Jim Laurita and Dan Stevenson.
