Brandford, ON – WEBSTER’S COMET – Discovered May of 2012 in the United Kingdom, WEBSTER’S COMET may not spell the end for RPM Feb 2013mankind, but it will have the guy in the other lane heading for higher ground in 2013!

WARSHIP – Mark Woodruff’s 1967 Corvette… “Wrap Your A$$ In Fiberglass”, then hang on for the ride of your life! It’s only fitting that a high power machine like this be named after a warship.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE “COMPACT” – “I’d Like To Order The Black Chevy II, And Could You Add On The Ralph Hardesty Option Package To That Please… I Wanna Go Over 200 mph!”

SHOW and GO! – Never judge a book by it’s cover. A wolf in sheeps clothing. It’s a “sleeper”. You get the idea. Robert Killian’s ’33 Ford Coupe is not your everyday run of the mill street rod.

Mrs. Handy’s Fastmont – Don’t get confused thinking heads-up doorslammer drag racing is a man’s world. Down in the mid south Real Street has its share of fast ladies behind the wheels of small tire racecars!

Brandford, ON – “TAMELESS” – A living legend of drag racing that still mixes it up, Arnie Beswick IS TAMELESS. He continues to thrill three generations of fans with long smokey burnouts and low 7-second passes in his 1964 GTO Tameless Tiger II Nostalgia Pro Stock.

HISTORICAL VALUE – Going back to the start of it all this car is a legend in fast street car drag racing. Sure it’s old school cool, but Larry Vienneau wouldn’t have it any other way!

THE DARK KNIGHT – If cars could talk this one would say, “I am your worst nightmare!” From the concept of building a record breaking 2,500+ horsepower street machine, to actually doing it. COOKY AND THE ROOKY…

YOU CAN STEAL MY CAR BUT YOU CAN’T TAKE AWAY MY DRIVE! – This 7-second all-motor Mustang packs more than a punch and has a story behind it. How the devastating loss of one car led to the build of this potent pony.

THE FINAL SHAKEDOWN – From its humble beginnings, the name “Shakedown” has become synonymous with the word records.

THE GREEN EMPIRE STRIKES BACK – After a huge upset at the final event last season, the Sporring/Latino team took back the PMRA and more in 2012!

STREET MACHINES LIVE – For those people that think car shows are just for “show ponies and trailer queens”; you know, those cars that are shined up for weekend events only and not really street driven or drag raced… you’d better think again! There are a number of hard-core shows that bring out some of the wildest cars ever to be built, driven and raced, and this was just one of them.

Build It Drive It Race It – For the last several years Rich Dupre’ has been involved somehow in the world of racing, but since 1999 he has been playing with his homebuilt ’41 Willys.

WHO’S IN THIS ISSUE OF RPM – OCTOBER 2012

Courtesy of RPM Magazine

Brandford, ON – THE UNIVERSAL SOLDIER – It was an $800 car that turned into Mike Roy’s passion, a 1971 Monte Carlo that was anything but cherry when he originally bought it back in the summer of 1991. But now, well, it pulls double duty effortlessly on both the street and strip and is truly universal!

THE BULLET MAKES CONTACT – The 2012 Yellow Bullet Nationals, best put; “it is a totally off the hook display of fast doorslammer drag racing…” — Mark, www.goDragRacing.org

All racers and teams fought tough to be the YB Nat’s class champion, but there can only be one winner!

FROM SHOEBOX TO MATCHBOX – Check out the cool ‘57 Chevy of Paul Martin and wild 1976 Chevette of Beau and James Bettis.

THE 5.70 REAL STREET RACING ASSOCIATION – It was a simple concept really, either we step up for the class we enjoy or we watch it fade into nothingness. Enter Tom Clausen…

THE BEAST IN THE EAST – Charity Drag Race triples in size in three years – For an eager, diehard group of Atlantic Canada drag racers the ultimate goal of doing what they love and at the same time raising funds for The Child Life Department at the local hospital turned into reality when the weekly cruise night bench racing and smack talk turned into talk on renting the track.

PROJECT 4 LUG THUG – Natural Progression – Controllin the Powa! – If you have ever left on green with the jug on kill, you already know that a good dose of nitrous left unharnessed leads to tire smoke or a display of your undercarriage.

RPM Project Big Block Brawler Exceeds Expectations!

Courtesy of RPM Magazine

Brandford, ON – RPM Magazine’s newest engine project, the Big Block Brawler had a chance to show what it could do on the dyno and the results were amazing! Tommy Eufemia (Bad Attitude Engines in Morriston, Florida) built the 489 Big Block Chevy with a hydraulic roller camshaft and 10:1 compression since it was designed as a street & strip engine. Spinning at 6,400 rpm on the dyno the Brawler churned out 671 hp and 598 ft lbs of torque (running on 93 octane pump gas).

With our naturally aspirated numbers right where we wanted them it was time to add some nitrous oxide to the equation. The pump gas was drained from the fuel cell and it was filled with VP Racing Fuels C16 race gas. Gradually jets sizes were increased in the nitrous plate until the final dyno pull netted a whopping 1180 hp and 1060 ft lbs of stump pulling torque!

During the Dyno pull, a video was taken and sent to RPM’s Editor in Chief Chris Biro who had commented, “When we were first watching Brian’s Big Block Brawler dyno session video in the offices here we were impressed”, explains RPM Editor In Chief Chris Biro. “Then, when the nitrous came in, the RPM skyrocketed and my eyes popped out of my head, (followed by a few words not fit for a G rated magazine), as I saw the juice invade the motor like the plague through that insane NS annular discharge plate!

WHO’S IN THIS ISSUE OF RPM MAGAZINE – SEPTEMBER 2012

Courtesy of RPM Magazine

Brandford, ON – Extreme Indeed! – It was bigger, it was badder and there was even more extreme horsepower in the house for this year’s Extreme Street Machine Shootout. Friday afternoon and into the night saw some of the world’s most insane on-the-edge street machines gather at Gus’s Drive-In and then duke it out on the dragstrip the following day.

Max Effort Mopar – Take a cool ex-Pro Stock Truck. Drop in 645 cubic inches of aluminum wedge power. Then slam on a killer paint job and keep it so clean you can eat off of any part of it, and you got the Max Effort Mopar of David Solomon

Tropical Fury – Race and street machines are alive and well on the island of Aruba, and these three men will see to it that it will stay that way. Your Tropical Fury begins with Christine!

Big Block Brawler – The Fun Begins!!  1,000 HP Part IV – The Big Block Brawler finally gets its chance on the dyno to show what it can do.  From the beginning of the project it has been our primary goal to make this combination run really strong on nitrous…lets see how it worked out.

Heavy Duty Towing on The Cheap – Part II – Gas Thrifty Ford Ecoboost Powerhouse – Last month we featured our V-6 EcoBoost F-150 4 x 4 Super Crew project truck which started life with a towing capacity of 11,200 lbs when optioned with the Max Tow package.  See what our most recent additions have done for this towing monster!

Project 4 Lug Thug gets the shaft in a good way from Dynotech.

RPM/Lucas Oil Extreme Events, Return to Grassroots Street Machine Event For 2012

Courtesy of RPM Magazine

East Troy, WI – It’s just a month away! Over 60 of the baddest street and strip machines will converge on the legendary Gus’s Drive-In on Friday July 20th for a night of food, fun and bench racing. Then, on Saturday July 21st, all of the participants head over to Great Lakes Dragaway (Union Grove Wisconsin) to battle it out in a best two out-of-three grudge race brawl!

Brian Hansen’s 4th Annual Extreme Street Machine Shootout is back!” Exclaims RPM Editor Chris Biro. “Our first Extreme Event for 2012 at Grand Bend Motorplex was all about drag cars of every kind, however our next stop is a celebration of the grassroots of the sport itself… street machines!”

This particular event’s entry is exclusive and limited to approximately 60 cars that apply to event organizer (and RPM Magazine’s Director Of Advertising) Brian Hansen, and meet his criteria for the program. “Last year was one of the wildest events we’d been to in many years… seeing the baddest of the bad street machines pull into the cruise portion of the event was a definite highlight that brought back the heyday of the fast street car movement,” added Biro. “As well as Brian himself, we’ll have RPM Photojournalist and Technical Writer Chuck Scott on hand this year with his lovely wife Alicia set-up at Gus’s on Friday night and in the house at Great Lakes Dragaway on Saturday.”
