Peter Maduri Jr Wins 2019 TNT Super Series Championship

Second TNTSS championship for Maduri!

NIAGARA FALLS, ON – The wrap up for the 2019 Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series came down to the final weekend – Championship weekend presented by Sam LoVetro Automotive – where every round mattered. When the dust settled, it was Peter Maduri Jr with his dad Pete Maduri Sr as co-driver, winning the 13th TNTSS title.

The Maduri team came into the weekend with a mere one point lead over second place, having just taken the lead the race before. In true championship form, Maduri Jr drops himself into the #1 qualifying position with a perfect 10.900 to get maximum points. If that wasn’t enough, he made it to the semi-finals that day which gave him a 32 point lead over Tyler Halleen. Young Halleen was on a mission of his own, winning Saturday and putting himself in serious contention for the championship going into Sunday.

On day two, rain was in the forecast. Halleen qualified 3rd and Maduri 7th, shrinking the points lead. When the skies opened up after round one and the event was cancelled, the title was clinched and the Maduri team were TNTSS champions.

This season, he had one TNTSS event win and was seen deep into eliminations more often than not. Couple that with a string of top 5 qualifying efforts and he was tough to beat. Maduri Jr also won the Jim Thomson RACE OF CHAMPIONS presented by Revs Full Throttle Powersports at Grand Bend in July.

Boniferro gets first ever event wins and earns championship by one point!

NEW YORK – Championship weekend for the 2018 Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series on Sept 14-16 was something nobody would have predicted. Patrick Boniferro from Niagara Falls, Ontario found his way to all three final rounds, winning two and at the same time taking the 2018 TNT Super Series championship.

Boniferro came into the weekend in 10th place, 99 points behind the leader. Never in the 12 year history of the TNTSS has a driver moved from 10th to win the championship this late in the season.

Friday at Lancaster Dragway presented by Jan-Cen Motorsports – Boniferro methodically worked his way through the field taking out #2 in the points Jen Guenther. He then laid a .513 light on points leader Chris VanBaalen. Round three he was 9 total against past Lancaster track champion Jeff Sobczynski which sent him to a bye run and then into the final.

There he faced Mark Herbold and was .007 behind at the hit but lit another beacon with a 7.005 to Herbold’s too fast 6.993. This was Boniferro’s first win in his young drag racing career.

New points leader – The team of Jennifer Guenther and Pete Maduri Jr!

NEW YORK – The Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series saw a new winner this weekend with Billy Leber taking the $1000 big cheque on Friday while Harry Phelps took it Saturday.

Presented by Halleen’s Automotive, the weekend kicked off Friday at Lancaster Dragway. Joe Karosik got the #1 qualifier spot with a perfect 7.000. But in the end, it was veteran racer Billy Leber driving his dad’s 1967 Chevy through the field to victory.

COUNTDOWN to a Championship – Tom Coonly – 2017 TNT Super Series CHAMPION

NIAGARA FALLS, ON – The eleventh season of the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series crowned a new champion in 2017 – Tom Coonly from Blasdell, New York who earned 605 points in the tightest points battle since 2009.

Not only did Coonly get a win on July 30th at Toronto Motorsports Park, he didn’t have a first round loss all year and he was deep in eliminations at most races in 2017. That plus earning qualifying points at all but two races is the kind of consistent performance that earns championships.

“Just getting a win in this series is extremely tough with all the talent that shows up for every race,” said Coonly. “To be able to be lucky enough to win the championship is amazing!”
