2018 NHRDA WORLD FINALS
Ennis, TX – The 2018 NHRDA World Finals stormed into the Texas Motorplex this past weekend, literally. Between 
the sunshine on Friday night to the record rainfall and chasing tornadoes on Saturday to the sunshine on Sunday, the 2018 NHRDA World Champions were crowned at the NHRDA World Finals.
Friday night the Yukon Gear and Axle Sled Pulls got off to a great start in the Valair Clutches Limited Pro Stock Class where Dan Vallance and the Farm Truck took home the World Championship with an outstanding pull of 353.00 feet.
The South Bend Clutch Pro Stock World Championship went to Brad Ingram and the Scheid Diesel Dodge with a distance of 331.01 feet. It was Ingram’s 2nd NHRDA World Championship and first since 2014. In the Super Stock class it was defending World Champion Jim Greenway and his truck Luther taking home the World Championship with a pull of 326.07 feet. The Semi Truck class win went to Trevor Jackley and his Midwest Diesel Freightliner with a distance of 331.04 feet.
Saturday did not go as anyone planned. The rain started around 8:30 am and didn’t relent until well into the evening. But the real excitement started when the call came from the local sheriff’s office that the Texas Motorplex needed to be evacuated due to impending tornadoes that were headed towards the track. Luckily they missed the facility but the drag racing had to be postponed until Sunday.
Sunday featured the 2018 NHRDA Hot Shot’s Secret Diesel Drag Racing Series Finale. There were still National and World Champions to crown and with more weather moving into the area later that day everyone had to work together to finish the event.
In the Top Diesel class, John Robinson was able to take home his 3rd NHRDA World Championship and his 2nd Hot Shot’s Secret Diesel Drag Racing Series National Championship.
The G & J Diesel Pro Stock class World Championship was decided when Jarid Vollmer defeated Matt Kubik in the final round. Gord Cooper and his Smokin’ Gun Kenworth took home the NHRDA World Championship in the Mario High Performance Diesel Hot Rod Semi class.
Jared Delekta and the Industrial Injection team collected their first ever NHRDA World Championship in the Summit Racing Pro Street class. The PPE Super Street class saw Phillip Franklin win his second consecutive NHRDA World Championship.
Larry Brown won his first ever 10.90 Index NHRDA World Championship after he defeated Dennis Batts in the final round. Devin Ratliff won his first ever ARP Super Diesel World Championship when he defeated Hot Shot’s Secret teammate Trey Sikes in the finals.
Ron Clifton continued his domination in the Diesel Freak Big Rig Bracket class when he capped off his Hot Shot’s Secret Diesel Drag Racing Series National Championship with his first ever NHRDA World Championship.
Kendall Freed drove for over 30 hours from Vegreville, Alberta to Ennis, Texas to fight it out for a NHRDA World Championship. The trip became worth the journey after he defeated John Daffis in the final round of Sportsman becoming the 2018 NHRDA Sportsman World Champion.
