2012 Division 3 North Stars Summit Pro-Am Schedule

Norwalk, OH – The 2012 Division 3 North Stars Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am tour will feature four double race weekends and one single claim weekend.    

The North Stars Summit Pro-Am tour will open at Pittsburgh Raceway Park the weekend of June 1-3 in conjunction with the Nitro Jam weekend.  The new Nitro Jam structure will include a test and tune on Friday followed by a Nitro Jam professional show later that night. Saturday will feature the first of two Summit Pro-Am points races and will act as the Summit Tournament of Champions qualifier for the weekend.

The second Nitro Jam professional show later that night will feature the final rounds of sportsman competition in front of a packed house with winners earning a berth into the year-end championship tournament. Sunday will wrap up the race weekend with a second Summit Pro-Am race.  As a staple in northern drag racing, the Tedesco family has responded year after year to larger and larger Pro-Am tour events with an ever-growing facility. The facelift continues in the pre-season as the facility looks toward more renovations both on and off the track to prepare for the 2012 Summit Pro-Am tour once again.   

Mountain Park Dragway, a long-time favorite in Division 3, will then host a Summit Pro-Am the weekend of June 29-July 1. Returning to the historically successful July weekend, the track looks forward to hosting the sportsman racers of IHRA. The long standing divisional facility is known for making everyone who enters the gate feel at home.  

Grand Bend Motorplex will host its traditional Nitro Jam event July 20-22 and Division 3 racers will have an opportunity to utilize the Nitro Jam event as a Division 3 Pro-Am claim. Although not a double race weekend for sportsman Pro-Am competitors, the IHRA is offering the weekend as a claim  and TOC qualifier for the benefit of the IHRA’s northern and Canadian competitors.  

IHRA’s North Stars division will then move to the renowned U.S. 131 Motorsports Park. The famed track in western Michigan will host its stop on the Pro-Am tour August 10-12 and offer the IHRA sportsman racer some of the most luxurious amenities in the country.  U.S. 131 will run the same Pro-Am format as Pittsburgh Raceway Park with a Tournament of Champions qualifier and Pro-Am points race on Saturday and a second Pro-Am race on Sunday.  

London Dragway will then make a triumphant return to the Division 3 schedule the weekend of September 7-9 for a double race weekend.  After seeing the impact the facility can have on the racers who visit it, facility co-owner and operator Craig Boone is excited to embrace the Pro Am tour and its return in 2012. The updated 1/8 mile facility hopes to become a long standing divisional staple in IHRA sportsman racing.
