FINALs

As is the rule in Drag Racing…”It’s been a LONG day.” The final match-up is between ADRL regular Robert Vogler of nearby Lewisville, NC and newcomer Tyler Allen of Manchester, KY.

At this late hour neither one had a great light, so the battle was on the track and Tyler pulled it off by margin of 0.0079 seconds estimated at DragRaceCentral.com at about 11 inches! OMIGOSH…WHAT A DRAG RACE!!!

Congratulations, Tyler…”you done real good!”

SEMIs

As this night wore on, little Tyler Allen caught Ryan Crews at the tree and, despite Ryn’s best efforts, Tyler was just unstoppable.

Robert Vogler enjoyed the benefit of Ty Tutterow’s red light start and gleefully advanced into the finals.

ROUND 2

Robert Vogler took out birthday girl, Tia Tutterow, at the tree. In her effort to catch him, she broke out running an 8.498 on a 8.54 dial.
This track keeps getting quicker and quicker for ALL the classes…it’s great if you have no ceiling, but not so for the Juniors.

Ty Tutterow takes a by-run before record breaking crowds.

Tyler Allen gets a red light start, but when Janna Vogler ran a 7.865 she was disqualified and young Tyler advanced to the Semis.

Ryan Crews took a stellar win, running on his dial with a better light, forcing Taylor Weatherford into the “break out zone”

ROUND 1

Ty Tutterow was victorious over Zach Pauley at the tree, and maintained his margin by running a 7.973 on a 7.95 dial against Zach’s 7.962 on a 7.90.

Ryan Crews dominated the tree and the track against fellow North Carolinian Brandon Pottorf earning him sound passage to Round 2.

10 year old Tyler Allen took on former Minuteman holder, Patrick Weatherford and showed him what a little kid can do! Tyler’s .017 light made catching him impossible.

Makayla Wilson inadvertently handed Tia Tutterow a birthday present when she broke out and crossed the 7.90 barrier.
Happy Birthday, Tia…you’re headed to Round 2!

Robert Vogler accepted passage to round 2 when John Moretz broke out running a 7.995 on an 8.05 dial at this record breaking fast track they call "The Rock"...

...while sister, Janna Vogler, pulled the tree from under Kendall Theisse and ran a 7.909 on a 7.90 to Kendall’s 8.009 on an 8.00…WAY close!

Taylor Weatherford cut a great light and broke out by 8/1000ths of a second, but Max Hyatt’s slow reaction time caused him to scramble and cross the 7.90 threshold by 3/100ths. Under the first or worst rule Taylor advances to Round 2.

Just in case you don’t think they’re serious about this 7.90 threshold, this next match-up will convince you. Top qualifier and ADRL President Kenny Knowling’s son, KJ, was paired…

…against Timmy Clifton, Jr in the final race of the round.

KJ ran a 7.874 against Timmy’s 7.870…initially we (the people) thought “first or worst”… KJ went over the least and would advance, but the ADRL ruling was BOTH competitors were disqualified, Giving Ty Tutterow a by-run into the Semis.

**I have to note that both boys willingly accepted the ruling as "fair" and KJ stood at the start line to cheer on race mate Ty Tutterow in his by-run.

Young KJ Knowling put a spring in Dad’s step as he earned his way to the #1 Qualifying position at the same track where he had taken the Minuteman just 1 year ago.

It sure doesn’t take long for the ADRL Pro Junior field to fill up. Since it is a first-come-first-served type of entry with qualifying by reaction time only, it leads one to think the competition is more in the dialing finger of the caller, than the skills of the racer. This has not been my findings…the ADRL Pro Junior field is at least as competitive as you’ll see anywhere!

Just look at these numbers:
1       8 KJ Nowling, Dardenne Prairie MO, Boss              0.006
2  1904 Tyler Weatherford, Danville VA, Racetech          0.007

6  1905 Patrick Weatherford, Danville VA, Racetech       0.016
