FINALs
« Reply #5 on: August 23, 2009, 06:31:29 PM »
So here we are…two young Ohio men at the ADRL National Trails Pro Junior Finals battle for the coveted Minute Man.
Lucas Oil’s RJ Thacker in his ’97 Mike Bros winged machine…

and Caleb Ellison in his 2001 Halfscale.

Pro Juniors ran first, despite the reverse order all day, to give the big cars ample time to cool and prepare…and in this nighttime match up RJ’s .057 reaction time made all the difference as he ran a 9.441 on a 9.39 against Caleb’s 9.113 on a 9.05.

Congratulations to RJ & the whole Lucas Oil Team!

Superman Timmy Clifton, Jr got a late night red light against Lucas Oil’s young RJ Thacker giving RJ that golden ticket to the finals

Despite a great .007 reaction time, The Morganator handed the round to Caleb Ellison when she broke out by .05 seconds.

ROUND 2
« Reply #3 on: August 23, 2009, 05:50:42 PM »
Superman Timmy Clifton, Jr was paired against Edmond Ellison in round 2, and what a match that was! Timmy had a .032 RT to Edmond’s .038…Timmy ran an 8.043 on an 8.03 dial @  76.09 mph and Edmond ran an 8.004 on a 7.99 dial @ 77.56 mph. It was hard fought but Timmy advanced to the Semis.

Caleb Ellison danced into the Semis when Kendall Thiesse turned the red on in Round 2.

Young KJ Nowling put up a valiant fight against The Morganator Morgan Benefield, but Morgan’s sterling .015 light was too great a gap and KJ broke out by a mere .03 seconds...ouch!

and RJ Thacker treed #1 qualifier Cardino Fornataro earning him a secure place in the Semis.

ROUND 1
« Reply #2 on: August 23, 2009, 05:21:26 PM »
Cardino Fornataro of Newark, OH had a .001 light during qualifying earning him a bye-run through the first round as the #1 qualifier in this scant 15 car field. Way to go Cardino!

Lucas Oil’s RJ Thacker of Minford, OH advanced past the Jazzster [Jasmyn Wilson of Wellston, OH] when she red lit back to the trailer. Sorry Jasmyn…see you in Rockingham.

Caleb Ellison of Beaver Creek, OH seriously treed St Louis’ semi finalist Kyle Dvorak of McHenry, IL with a .023 light giving him an easy victory to round 2.

ADRL’s KJ Nowling of Dardenne Prairie, MO was given a pass to the 2nd round by Justin Dempsey of Lenore, WV when he turned that ugly red-eye on.

Superman Timmy Clifton, Jr of Yemesee, SC ran a tight race to make up for some lost tree-time against Eric Castle of Paintsville, KY. Eric had a .019 RT against Timmy’s .060, but Timmy ran 8.122 on his 8.12 dial eaking him past and into the next round.

Edmond Ellison of  Beavercreek, OH had a lot of ground to make up against Alexander Open of Kendsha, WI in their heads up 7.95 race considering Alexander’s .016 RT to Edmond’s .063…but he pulled it off when he ran an 8.017 to Alexander’s 8.091 run. Great Race, Guys!

VMP’s hero, Morgan Benefield of Virginia Beach, VA met up with ADRL’s St Louis finalist Trevor Haisma of Wonder Lakes, IL in round 1…Morgan took the holeshot and ran a tight 8.079 on an 8.00 dial, and Trevor’s 8.123 on an 8.10 was not enough to fill the gap.

Team Barklage’ Kendall Thiesse of Montreal, MO gave Friday’s top qualifier Jeremy Curran of Bartlett, IL a serious race with nearly identical reaction times…but her 8.296 run on a 8.21 dial was enough to put her over the top and enter round 2.

The Juniors trickled in late Thursday and early Friday, but definitely brought it when they came!

The battle for top qualifying position has been fierce and ain't over yet with one more round to go...I'd better hit the track!
