FINALs

okay…it’s hot…it’s late…it’s been an exhausting weekend [did I mention it’s hot?]
The match up is between local hero Trevor Haisma in his ’97 Spitzer

and Ty-Rod Tutterow in his 2001 Half Scale.

Both have proven themselves worthy of their place, tonight…both formidable.

The reaction times reflect the exhaustion they both feel, so the battle is in the straight-line haul…a photo-finish pushes Trevor to break-out with an 8.005 run on an 8.06 dial, while Ty sports a 7.942 et on a 7.93 dial earning Ty Tutterow the coveted Minute Man and bragging rights as the ADRL Gateway International 2009 Pro-Junior Champion.

What a great weekend to be Tutterow!

SEMIs

Trevor Haisma was paired against teammate and friend Kyle Dvorak in the semi-final round. They noted that at least one of them were sure to make it into the finals, but neither were inclined to yield.

Kyle turned the red on by a scant .003 second foul against Trevor’s sharp .037 late-night reaction time. The race continued with Trevor logging an 8.083 et on an 8.00 dial and Kyle put up an 8.112 et on an 8.09…what a match-up!

…and ADRL veteran Ty Tutterow

was paired with ADRL’s very young KC Knowling

for conclusionary passage to the finals,

just moments after Chuck Hulsch’s record-breaking-barrier-busting 3-second run on 10” tires in the Extreme 10.5 class (crewed by, father, Todd Tutterow).

SECOND ROUND

In Round 2, Kyle Dvorak ran a 8.101 at 79.69mph on an 8.07 dial to gain victory over Skyler Daly as the sun sank on this very long and very hot day.

With close .01s reaction times Trevor Haisma battled young Bryce Beeler for victorious passage to the Semis with an 8.053 et on a 7.97 dial against Bryce’s 8.159 et on a 7.95 (Bryce had him by a marginal .02 sec on the tree)

ADRL’s young KJ Knowling cut an impressive 0.004 light over Robert Vogler’s red-light start giving KJ a straight shot into the Semi Final round.

and Janna Vogler couldn’t make up the .05 seconds, she gave up at the tree, to stop the un-stoppable “Ty-Rod” Ty Tutterow causing her a slight break-out at the conclusion of round 2.

FIRST ROUND

Kyle Dvorak of McHenry, IL treed our own Kendall Thiesse of Montreal, MO with a .011 light and running 8.084 at 80.17mph on a 8.07 dial.

Robert Vogler of Lewisville, NC sent young Tia Tutterow (also of Lewisville, NC) back to the trailer in their Half Scale match up with a respectable .054 reaction time and running an 8.013 on a 7.90 dial

Ty Tutterow of Lewisville, NC advanced over Joseph Bommarito of Springfield, IL  when Joseph broke out by .02 seconds trying to overcome time lost at the tree.

Local hero Trevor Haisma of Wonder Lake, IL sent Topeka’s ADRL Champion Trevor (“T-Dog”) Wilson back to Battle Creek, MI at the tree with a .036 reaction time despite the 8 second run on a 7.97 dial. Maybe next time T-Dog.

Bryce Beeler’s (Marshfield, IL) extreme red light start didn't impede his advancement to the 2nd Round when Cody Jeffs of Ofallon, MO broke NHRA Junior Dragster’s 7.90 ceiling with a regrettable 7.874 ET.

#3 Qualifier Janna Vogler of Lewisville, NC danced through the first round after ADRL’s River Wood of Dallas, TX  turned the red bulb on by a mere .013 seconds.

#2 Qualifier Alexander Open of Kendshaw, WI gave ADRL’s local son KJ Knowling of Dardenne Prairie, MO a pass to the 2nd round, despite his tight 7.91 on a 7.90, when the red-eyed monster reared its ugly head at the start line.

and #1 Qualifier Skyler Daly of Hawkinsville, MO stayed in the field, despite mechanical issues, when young Dylan Sutton of Moscow Mills, MO ended his very long problem-laden day with a foul start.

I have to add…young Dylan and his Dad put up a valiant effort, in this tough field, despite numerous mechanical issues this weekend. Their upbeat competitive spirit was not missed, by this reporter, and I hope to see them again.

What an incredible weekend?!?!
The battle for Qualifying concluded with Skyler Daly of Hallsville, MO pulling a perfect 0.000 light in the second qualifying attempt. CONGRATULATIONS, Skyler.

Skyler was seconded by Alexander Open of Kendsha, WI with an impressive 0.002

Both bumping Janna Vogler of Lewisville, NC to a third position with her very competitive 0.007

WoW…Quite an elite group, eh?

It's August...and it's hot! ...but that has not disuaded this band of youngsters from coming out for another great weekend of ADRL-style battle. The competion is fierce, to include several local champions as well as some Minute Man veterans.

The cars seem more diverse, to this reporter. Typically the Halfscale dominates the field, but this weekend is peppered with Spitzers, Hercules, Mike Bos, Strike Force, Mot Tubing, and Hardens.

Trials in testing build experience, and the ADRL is the experience of a lifetime. The resounding declaration is that they are just happy to be here and be a part of the show!

ADRL racing is not for the faint hearted...the race is before record crowds at every venue, and St Louis is definitely no exception.

After last night’s 1st Round of Qualifying, Janna Vogler of Lewisville, NC came out on top of the heap with a .011 light,

while local hero Joseph Bommarito of Springfield, IL blew by us with his 83.31 mph in the 1/8th.

Bear in mind…they are restricted on their top end speeds.

[see Qualifying Sheet below]

But a lot can happen in the next two rounds, so hold on while we begin the grueling ADRL Saturday…
