Pro Mods

A total of 13 cars would try to make the 8 car field for the independence day show at the RPM 10th Anniversary bash.

Joe Baker made a nice first outing with his slick 68 Camaro.  Running a quickest of 4.123.

Broken parts took out The ADRL Pro Extreme car of Branden Snider.

Britt Fox was unable to find the handle on his Chevy to make the 5.45 bump spot.

Keith Smith would be #9 qualifier in his S-10.

The breakage continued in the last qualifying round when Ralph Edelen would hurt his motor and not make the first round against Tim Tindle.

Ron Stokes also suffered breakage in round 1 against Michael Neal.

Eliminations

In the finals, Mike Neal made a solo pass when Tim Tindle hurt a valve in the motor of his 67 Mustang in the semi's and could nopt make the call.

Mike beat Michael Neal in round 1 when the ADRL XTF Nova got crossed up on the hit.

In the semi's he'd take down Joey Martin's Lomad with the quickest pass of eliminations, a 3.989 at 185.20 MPH

On the other side of the ladder, Tindle would get a bye in the first round when Edelen could not make the call.

Tindle defeats Michael Neal in the semi's (yes Michael Neal was running 2 cars) with a 4.074

5.70 Real Street

#5 qualifier Casey Smith slogged through 4 rounds of Real Street Competitors to take the win in the very last pair of cars down the track on Saturday night.  He took out the #10 qualifier, Charlie Johnson, with a near perfect .006 reaction time and 5.766 109.44 MPH lifting run to the quicker 5.747 126.08 MPH pass of Johnson.

Smith took a hole shot win over Mike Meeks in rd 1 with a 5.816 to a 5.803 losing time.

Zane Presley was unable to make the call for round 2 giving Smith a bye run.

Smith had another hole shot victory in the semi's against Harold Sukie with a 5.894 to a much quicker 5.799.

On the other side of the ladder, Charlie Johnson dispatched Kenny Johnson in round 1 when Johnson left late and ran well under the 5.70 index.

Round 2 saw Johnson beat Rickey Presley's Camaro with a near perfect 5.716 on the 5.70 index to Presley's 5.761.

Johnson got an easy pass to the finals when Patrick Clenny was unable to make the call.

Joey Martin has to be the ultimate adrenaline junkie!

When he's not out piloting his Pro Extreme Chevy Nomad into the 3.80 et range...

He's flying his ultra-light aircraft!  He buzzed the track a couple of times between the last round of qualifying and 1st round of eliminations.  Yeah, he lives just down the road from the track about 6 miles.

Limited Street

#1 qualifier Mike Collins would march through the field with authority meeting the #2 qualifier, Carlton Thompson in the finals.  This was a classic Ford vs. Chevy battle.  When all the smoke cleared, Collins' Camaro would be the victor with his 4.933 147.89 MPH run over Thompson's pristine Mustang's 4.969 156.17 MPH pass.  Talk about closing speed!

Collins got past the first round when Kelvin Seaborn's Camaro broke.

Collins met Shannon Poole in the semi's and wins with a 4.920 147.89 MPH run to a tire spinning 5.649 96.12 MPH pass.

Thompson got a free pass in round 1 as well when Lyle Smith's Chevy powered Mustang broke.

His semi final opponent was Tony Davis.  With Thompson making the fastest pass of the eliminations at a 4.867 154.93 MPH.

It was an exciting day of racing!  With track temperatures in excess of 140 degrees during the day, all of the competitors worked hard to find the fine line between maximum performance and traction.  Many fought all day with little success!

The only real incident of the weekend came in the 1st round of drag radial.  John Mcdanough took his very first round win in drag radial.  Unfortunately, just as he passed the finish line the car made a move to the left hitting the guard rail and then bouncing back across the track to hit the right side barrier.  A small fire ensued which was quickly doused by the on scene fire and rescue team.  John was fine, however the car has seen better days!

Drag Radial

The finals would find the #1 and 2 qualifiers racing for the gold.  Glen Jones would take the win in his Blue Mustang over #1 qualifier Brandon Fuglee 69 Camaro.  His 5.221 @ 138.16 MPH run would easily beat Fuglee's tire spinning 6.096 @ 96.75 MPH.

Glen would meet:  The Mustang of Rueben in round 1 who broke

...and Eric Kenward in the semi's  (Eric would make a career best run of 5.367 @ 129.54 MPH in round 1 of eliminations.)

Brandon would have a bye in round 1 and meet the Mustang of Artie Keller in the semi's.  He'd win going away with a 5.851 123.92 MPH blast to a slowing 6.594 84.22 MPH effort of Keller.

We apologize for taking longer than normal to bring you Saturdays results.  Out hosting company installed a security patch Saturday evening that took out the forum and gallery until today.  Everything is back up to normal.

We also want to apologize for no live audio on Saturday as well.  There were some significant technical challenges with the tracks FM broadcast that prevented us from using that signal...and, unfortunately, we could not get close enough to any PA speaker to use that as the feed.
